As many of you may know, I did an entire 30+ custom player roster for the original MLBPP, involving players from many different countries and ethnicities, and varying levels of skill. I even included some minor leaguers, some role players, and some guys with negative attributes, to make my team as reaslitic as possible, and mirror the real-life teams out there. My MLBPP 2008 version is coming along nicely; I have now completed my starting 8 fielders, and am just wrapping up my 5th starter. Bullpen is half full, and just 3 or 4 bench players remain. I am posting all of these on the Wiki, so that the screenshots are in one place, and I don't take up too much valuable server space. wiki/index.php?title=Charlotte_Chargers_2008 The Chargers are based in Charlotte, NC, with the charging/swinging ball as their icon. Uniforms are brown/white for home, and brown/gray for away - similar to some teams in the AAA league, Gigantes probably. As of now I have the following players: Starting Rotation: RHP James Calloway - 99mph - hard-throwing ace, cut-cb-chg-sifb RHP Javier Aceves -96 mph - finesse - good release, pickoff, groundball- slv-sc-fork-2sfb LHP Kiyoshi Sakata- 93mph - knuckleballing japanese, kn-snk-shu-snk RHP Scott Trzesniak- 94mph - high control, good pitches, possible starter - fosh-kn-scb-snk LHP David Gregorio - 93mph - high Stamina, wily 5th starter/long man - sld-Hsnk-fosh Bullpen RHP Justin Baker - 93mph - long man/swing starter - Cchg-cb-2sfb RHP Nate Andrews- 90mph - good spin, gd low pitch curveballer - Vsld-dcb-kncb RHP Shengjun Ishida - 94mph - sinkerballer, mop-up, submariner - palm-shu-snk RHP Carlos Sanhueza - 95mph - middle relief, backup LF - Hsld-kncb-sld LHP Joe Tyler- 95mph - lefty setup/specialist - dcb-cchg-sld RHP Marty Stone - 101+mph - flamethrowing reliever, poor control - chg-Hsnk RHP Darren Reichert - 96mph, backup reliever - fork-sifb-snk LHP Pedro Vermilyea - 93mph - lefty gyroball closer, sidearm/dual - palm-2sfb-snk Fielders CF Dante Warner, Righty - all around great CF 2B Keith Colamarino, Righty - SS/2B - contact hitter 1B Paul Perry, Lefty - good contact, good power RF Nick James, Lefty, 1B/RF/C, slugger/big power threat 3B Marco Valenzuela, Righty - great patience, bat control C Raul Hernandez, Switch-hitter, great fielding catcher, some power SS Chomei Matsubara, Righty, super-utility infielder LF Enrico Santiago, Lefty - defensive OF, great arm/fielding/speed Bench 1B/3B/LF Rick Cunnane, power bat, no fielding - good pinch hitter or DH OF Ryan Evert, Lefty - all-rounder, all OF positions IF Rafael Navarro, Righty, backup SS/2B/3B, utility man C Dusty Boyd, Righty, trash talk, backup 1B, good arm AAA LHP Jamal King - 93mph - low control, Doc Gooden - Hsld-scb-splt RHP Brad Van Hekken - Intimidator, interesting reliever, Slv-sc-fork (original with more break, called a Spork) OF Joakim Mercado - speedster, some power, but no bat control or fielding ____________________________________________________ Anyone using the Wii version of the game can feel free to import one or all, and use however they wish - as a custom team, to fill out their teams, etc. The only thing I ask is to keep things realistic - I only have one or two real all-around good guys on this team, mainly to keep things interesting (and ensure I lose a few games!!). It allows for a lot of strategy as you set your lineup - do you go with Evert, the Australian all-arounder in LF, or Santiago, the speedy gold-glover with no bat? Do you have Boyd catch for 1 or 2 starters, specifically? Fill your lineup with power that day, because his game calling and pitcher handling is not anywhere near Hernandez's. The pitchers offer some choice, too - maybe you will go with the stable Baker or wily Trzesniak in your rotation, and bump the wild King into your bullpen. Maybe you will tire of Ishida's tantrums on the mound, and demote him in favor of Reichert. Whatever you do, have fun! After the hour or so spent entering these passwords - you deserve it! |

In 2009, I'm going to make the Islanders with my players only. Sorry. This is a really good team Alloutwar! I love playing GM, and this'll give me something to think about! |

Thanks, glad you guys are interested. Marco Valenzuela is done, but I need to post pics of him tonight. Jamal King my 5th starter just got finished too - next up is Justin Baker, long man in the 'pen. Then 7 more bench/bullpen players, then just AAA and I'm ready to roll!! |

Pics for Marco Valenzuela and Jamal King added. Justin Baker is now linked and up as well. Next up is Pedro Vermilyea, closer...or Marty Stone, setup man. Not sure. |

I would like to see Stone done. I like the quote: Alloutwar wrote: No one knows where it's goin', but it's getting there fast. Hilarious. |

Haha, thanks. I really like Stone - one of my most realistic players. Only one strength, that being speed, and very low-level pitches with no control. Perfect for a setup man to blow by part of the order, but not someone I would trust to closing out games unless absolutely necessary. I'll try to get him Hot Head or something similar this time around; I planned on him being not-great, but his speed making him useful even with a 5+ ERA. I think I'm going to do Nate Andrews next though. I need one long man who is more of a control guy, with nasty curves, instead of all these guys with 93mph+ heat. And I need a guy with shaggy red hair and glasses. And another Canadian! ![]() |

Nate Andrews is up, finished him last night - will post pictures tonight. I'm halfway through Marty Stone, but the game started me off with a curveball. First time a pitcher has started with a pitch, and it's one I don't want! Argh ![]() I should be able to pile everything into speed, gambling, and buying Accelertor Soles and glove waxes at the end. Sittch gave me Ace Stud, so thats been a help. I hope this guy pans out - what an awesome setup man, 103mph and no control whatsoever. Hah. |

Marty Stone is up on the wiki. His creation went a little too well - his pitches are lvl 2 and 3 instead of 1 and 2, and the game started me off with that annoying curveball. But 103mph was amazingly easy to get to, since it was my only real goal - practice, 3 gambles, glove from Sittch, one wax. Keeping everything else low - control of G, stamina of 34 (E)...that was some hard work. I had to throw the game against Gil so that Success Mode would end!! Next up is a new reliever/closer, Darren Reichert, who will try to earn a spot on the team. He will most likely be a AAA pitcher. |

Darren Reichert is up on the wiki and linked above. He is a backup reliever/closer that will most likely start in AAA - although we'll see how he does in some exhibition games, maybe Jamal King will bounce to AAA. Pedro Vermilyea was completed last night, and he is also added to the first post and on the wiki. Vermilyea isn't the same dominant, 96mph closer he was last year - this year he tops out at 93mph, but has the Gyroball ability to compensate. I wanted to run through the whole Patty arc with someone, and I was getting so good at creating pitchers, this was the perfect oppotunity. It netted me quite a few abilities - pretty much carried me through the game. So this year's Vermilyea doesn't have the huge C stamina - just decent running speed (C) thanks to all the quickness points. I am now done with pitchers for a while, and moving on to my bench and AAA fielders. Ryan Evert should be up next - Navarro is where I will attempt to get 2nd Position 4, and Boyd will require Jaw for SoD and Trash Talk. The Charlotte Chargers are nearing completion - 4 or 5 fielders and we can consider them done!! |
