A great all-around player from Puerto Rico, Navarro was signed by the Chargers to compete for the starting shortstop job, or provide utility infield depth.

Description

This is a Success Mode shortstop for my custom team, the Charlotte Chargers - an update from last year's. He is based on a number of real-life guys, taking parts from Nomar Garciaparra and Rafael Furcal. His speed and power came out higher than I anticipated, so I left his contact and fielding ratings a bit low to compensate. Navarro gives me all kinds of depth if I lose a starter, and he may occasionally start over Matsubara.

Rafael Navarro is the first-line utility infielder for the Chargers. He can play short, third or second as needed, is as speedy as they come, and has a fair bit of pop in the bat as well. He can adapt to many situations, laying down the perfect bunt or beating out the infield hit. He is definitely a key pinch runner, but his role can only expand.
