Description

Raul Hernandez was my backup catcher last year; he was intended to be my defensive catcher, but I made him before I had a good grasp of the game, leading to a backup without real strengths. The original backup, Dusty Boyd, ended up with much better abilities, and won the starting job.

This year I corrected that by keeping Raul's contact and speed low, his power decent, and concentrating on fielding almost exclusively. Hernandez's real skills are almost all defensive; he is pretty much the ideal backstop. With Good Block, Great Catcher, Gold Glover, a Cannon Arm, and excellent Throwing and Durability, Raul is one of those rare indestructible catchers that really improve the team all-around.

Hernandez can get some hits, and even hit with power now and then; but his true strength is in calling a great game and stifling the opposition's offense.
