Summary
The The Doctor's Thief is a series of events in Success Mode 2008.
Events
The first event requires a visit to the hospital to trigger.
1st Event: Doctor in Trouble (Random)
It's late at night and Chief and Marvin are talking about getting something to eat, when a suspicious man with a baseball gloves bumps into them and runs away. Moments later, the Doctor comes by and says her father's glove was stolen. Chief is presented with a choice of helping her catch the thief:
- Yeah, leave it to me! - The thief gets away, but Chief and Marvin are certain they will run into the thief again. The doctor promises a reward should they catch him. This option must be chosen in order for the Doctor's Thief events to progress further.
- Energy +3, Chance of Consistency decrease and/or chance of Clutch Increase
- It's probably too late now
- Series of events end. Chance of Consistency increase and/or chance of Clutch decrease.
2nd Event: Marvin's Tip (Free Time)
The second event is triggered by visiting a Free Time 2008 location. The location must not have characters or character events, otherwise the Doctor's Thief event will not trigger. Additionally, the player must choose Go see a movie. if the location is the Street.
After getting the "standard" event for that location, Marvin will come up to Chief and gives him information on where the Doctor's Thief was last sighted.
3rd Event: Catching the Thief (Free Time)
Visiting the location Marvin gave in the second event will trigger the third Doctor's Thief event. As in the second event, the location must not have characters or character events, otherwise the Doctor's Thief event will not trigger. Also like the second event, the player must choose Go see a movie. if the location is the Street.
After getting the "standard" event for that location, Chief runs into Marvin, who gives Chief information on the Thief's whereabouts. Chief has 4 directions to choose from.
- Choose correct direction - Chief spots the Thief and has a chance of catching him. Success rate may be determined by Arm Strength for fielders and Top Speed / Control for pitchers.
- Successful attempt: Concludes arc and Chief gets reward money (see below).
- Choose incorrect direction - The thief is nowhere in sight and the event progression starts over from the 2nd Event.
Correct choice of directions are as follows:
- North - go South
- East - go North
- South - go West
- West - go East
