The standard "hand" is 4 cards, and most characters start with 4 when the game begins.  However, having the attribute clumsiness will reduce your hand to 3 cards, making decisions more difficult. Worldliness, on the other hand, will give the use a full 5 card hand.  These attributes are countered with altered stats or injuries to compensate for the attribute.

It is possible to gain worldliness through random events, it has not been determined if clumsiness can be acquired in the same manner.  We do know that gaining worldliness will remove and override clumsiness (but most gamers will typically re-roll a new character without the handicap).

Overview

Fate Cards are the driving forces behind your decision making in success mode. Many events force the main character to make a decision using fate cards, which have different outcomes based on the card chosen. The fate card outcome is constant, and there are only 4 possible outcomes for each scenario (the rewards/penalties may be randomized to a degree). Typically, a player will have 4 random cards to choose from, and that card will be replaced with another random card on use. Certain attributes will grant the player more or less cards to choose from.
