There are 9 positions in baseball:

A Catcher (C) who catches throws from the Pitcher (P).
Three outfield (OF) positions: Left Field (LF), Center Field (CF), and Right Field (RF).
Four infield (IF) positions: First Base (1B), Second Base (2B), Third Base (3B), and Shortstop (SS).

A player may have as many as three positions.

In Season Mode, the Pitcher can be put in any of the following roles which affect how the CPU will play him:

In Success Mode, the position at which the Main Character starts the game will affect how he interacts with other characters.
