The easiest abilities to get are around 1/6 odds.

So After being the rays for 4 seasons and winning the world series 4 times, i decided to try the royals. Im having a fun time, but after some shrewed trades, i expect to fight for the title this year and win it all for the next several.

Do most of you out there turn off trades, forcing yourself to slowly develop thru FA and the draft?

How many seasons have you lasted?

I started a new season as the royals, but am still keeping my rays going - towards the end of their 5th season now. Other than trying to set HR & BA records, and watching the Yankees decline, I'm having trouble maintaining interest. Offensively, none of my starters have less than a C contact, and only my #9 hitter has les than a B power. Right now, just entering September, my players are 1, 2, & 3 for the league HR lead - 58, 46, 42.

My brain is telling me to just dump my stronger players, a few each season, and work in my 2nd/3rd year players who generally are C/D level on offense. Problem is, I have a hard time giving up my stars for nothing, and I've had trouble trading stars for strong rookies.

For all you long term plays out there, how do you keep the interest up? How many seasons have you gone with one team?

Anyone ever sim a whole season? Was it fun or boring?

So I lost interest in my royals when I made a mistake and traded for players who I knew would raise my team real quickly - catcher Martin, rf Pence and cf/of/1b swisher - and I wound up winning it all my 1st season and taking a large early lead in season 2. Id also lost interest in my rays in season 2012 after having 5 players with over 50 hr before August.

I am starting my 2nd season with an expansion team (Alaska Sums) and am really enjoying it. I limited my trades to other 1st and 2nd year players who needed work, had a satisfying 1st season (tho I finished under 500) but picked up as a F/A, converted him to 3b, and he and DJohnson (who hit 30hr and led the league in BA) have led the team to a strong start.

Anyway, I deleted my royals, but I think with my rays, I'm gonna sim a whole season. Ill have to do it 3 games at a time to monitor trades, and I'll probably change everyone's practice to be on automatic, but I've gotten attached to this team and kinda want to see it through even tho they are too good to make playing games challenging.

When I was younger I simmed quite a few seasons manually each game at a time. You get bored after a while but if you stick it through it's really fun in the playoffs.

It is fun if you want to take the role of an actual GM. Especially since the offseason is the best part of Season Mode.

Thanks for the input. I would definitely not sim each game individually. When I want the "mental escape" this game provides, but am too tired to actually play the game, I'll probably sim 3 games at a time until the trading deadline, and then sim more at a time.

If I'm awake and interested in actually playing, I'll play my expansion team.
