Eric you'll need a max drive or that's what I use. So using the disc it cones with and USB stick transfer your save from memory card to the USB stick. Then transfer the data to your computer using the USB. I'm at work at the moment but I'll let you know what program ( hex program- I used one of the free download ones on the net)

OK, but is there any way to do this hex editing stuff with the Wii other than the PS2?

Not that I'm aware sorry... my knowledge of the Wii is limited. Though I have used riivolution for a few games (game jerseys) in NBA, Madden and Rugby League. This would be one way though you would need;

1. Riivolution to be put on your Wii (soft mod)
2. A specific code that tells the game to load the new data (roster edits) and not those on the disc

I do not know of anyone that has hex edited Wii saves, but it may exist. Sorry for the lack of info

I've been stalled on the update due to work and my new obsession with soft-modding my PS2. I'm just about there after employing the 007 Agent Under Fire + MCBoot + uLaunch Elf + Apache + homemade slide tool fashioned out of an old debit card trick. Altogether, the total cost was $3.99 (the used 007 game). Crazy stuff, but once I find a blank DVD that my old burner actually gets along with, I'll be working on an update that you guys should be able to download for free. That will be followed by my crowning achievement - MLBPP 1980's - for anyone who is interested. It's exactly what you would expect: each team's all-time roster from the 80's (the period after the 1981 strike and spilling over into the very early 90's to be exact) and I actually prefer it to the modern rosters. More speed, less power, and at least 500 mustaches.

In the meantime I'll post the projected 2011 rosters and follow that up in a few days w/ abilities, etc.

Baseball Stars: I created/edited classic NL teams and replaced/edited the default teams with classic AL teams. With only 5 pitchers per team and simple stats it's fast and easy. Plus there is a hex edit tool specifically designed for Baseball Stars that you can download for free.

I was wondering, has anyone had any success with hex editing MLB PP 2008 for ps2? I see that you guys posted about doing it, but I wasn't sure if you ever figured anything out with it. I was wondering if it was worth my time to try it out. I've been updating the game the old way, but if it was possible to edit some restricted things (birthdays mainly), I'd certainly save a ton of time and this game would be given new life. It also wouldn't be such a hassle like it is now, and I might actually get through my edits this time.

I haven't been able to successfully soft mod my PS2, so unless I order a memory card with McBoot preloaded (not even sure if you can) I'm stuck editing the old fashioned way. Also, my username/password didn't work on this site for a awhile. Apparently, somebody repeatedly tried logging in as me, failed, and my account was locked. Hence my absence until now.

Pitchers are pretty much done, although once they're posted, I encourage people to help with pitch repertoires. The PitchFX descriptions are pretty vague so I used x/y angles, mph differential, spin and break to determine breaking balls. Either way, a number of SLD and H-SLD have been replaced by the more realistic V-SLD and SLV. As most of you know, MLBPP's sliders are Randy Johnson sidearm jobs and the AI hammers them repeatedly. Anyway, stay tuned for updates - pitchers and hitters.

Eric if you still want to do those rosters I could send you a memory card with free mcboot on it? As I'm from Australia I need my PS2 chipped to play power pros which makes it easier for me to get it onto memory card. Just PM me your details and I'll send it off to you :)
