Tigers lose in walk-off fashion

Image - Tadahito Iguchi

Chiba Marine Stadium, Chiba City, Chiba, Kantō – The Tigers lose a heart-breaker. It was such a close, and exhilarating game, the final score being 8-6, Marines. And it’s thanks to the great contributions of Shoitsu Ohmatsu, Saburo Ohmura, and in the bottom of the 9th, Tadahito Iguchi. His homerun was a bomb to center, and sadly, the Tigers ended up losing due to it. Muniz preceded Iguchi with an off-the-wall triple, where Hirano jumped, and hit the wall hard, he stated after the game “I should be fine for tomorrow, I just got the wind knocked out of me. Mayumi-senpai took me out to protect me from any further injuries. It wasn’t anything bad.”

Well, Hirano, we’re glad to see that you’re fine. And hopefully, we’ll be able to win our next game!

Also, it seems that Toritani is finally coming out of his slump, he has been struggling (.240 BA, 3 HR, 19 RBI) but yesterday, he hit a homerun, a double, and had 3 RBI’s. Congratulations Toritani, we wish you the best.

In other news, Shoitsu Ohmatsu hit his 100th career homerun yesterday. It was a homer in the second. And one that gave the Marines an early advantage.

Tigers bullpen loses it

Image - Yasuyuki Kataoka

Koshien Stadium, Nishinomiya, Hyōgo – The Tigers lost another heart-breaker yesterday. It involved a 9-run 8th for The Lions, giving them a lead, and they would never look back. Rookie Riki Kawamoto did well today, he had an excellent diving catch in center, along with his first ever major league assist, and let me tell you, it was a beauty. He caught the hard line-drive, whipped it home, and Abe applied the tough tag to seal the deal. Although that along with Tani’s 3 homeruns were the only bright sides in this game. Honestly, the bullpen is really bad, the 4 best in there, Fujikawa, Toyoda, Kizuka, and Abe are doing well, for the most part. Toyoda is in a slump, but, luckily Fujikawa is on fire, with a 1.88 ERA so far this season, if we can get to him, he’ll close it out, for sure.

The Tigers got quite the signing there in Kawamoto. How old is he?

And as his agent, I'm ecstatic to see that Fujikawa is living up to his "awesome" label. :)

Kawamoto is 19! And he's quite the ballplayer. :D

And as the GM, I'm also happy Fujikawa is living up to his "awesome" label! :DD

I'm trying to make a good one, and there isn't a really good one that I can trade for without trading Fujikawa, which isn't happening.
Moriyama is probably the best starter I have. I made a reliever, which I plan on importing soon, he's pretty good.

Tigers have another bullpen implosion

Image

Sapporo Dome, Sapporo, Hokkaidō – The Tigers bullpen once again, loses the game for them. Moriyama went 6 innings, giving up 4. The Tigers handed it over to Abe. He did okay, but ended up getting the loss. Although it should have went to the struggling Toyoda. He, once a gain, wasn’t able to record an out. We spoke to him afterwards. He had this to say: “It seems that nothing I’m throwing works, I should have gotten the loss today, not Abe.”

At least he knows that he’s struggling.

Moriyama expressed his anger with the bullpen. But he also says it is his fault as well. He hopes that the bullpen will pull through, eventually.

I just remembered about how I said that people could be parts of the front office...

Here's what I have so far:

[tm]: Senior Advisor, Todd Michaels
PPJ: Scouting Director (right?): [Name to be determined on]
maccrash, you were something too right (sorry for my poor memory...)

Anyone else who like to be something, I'll gladly add you :D

I'll update the story a little bit:

June 5
"Well, with the recent struggling with the bullpen, we've decide to make some changes, Tomoyuki Kubota, and Hirotaka Egusa have been called up from the second string team. Although when calling people up, sadly, you have to send people down as well. We have sent down Jason Standridge, Shen Jin. We have also finalized a trade with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, to send Ryo Watanabe over for Yoshinori Tateyama. Hopefully, he will be able to add to this struggling bullpen. He is sporting a 1.46 ERA as of right now. He should be of great help. Atsushi Kizuka was sent down to make room for the new addition."

Finally, my press conference was over.
I heard my phone ring, it was the owner.
"Moshi moshi." I said (it is a custom in Japan to say that)
"Hello Jack, it seems that Todd Michaels has finally showed up, we actually forgot about him here...so...um...yeah. But, regarless, he's here now, and waiting for you in your office." He said to me.
"Alright, I'll be right over."
I hung up, and rushed to my office, to see Todd Michaels.
When I got settled, I started the interview.
"Hi, my name is Jack Allen." I said
"Hi, I'm Todd Michaels, I would like to apply for the job of senior advisor." He said to me, in a determined tone.
"Okay, cool, we actually just lost our previous one due to retirement. Tell me, why do you want this job?"

[tm], answer however you wish:
1. The money!
2. The title!
3. To help a team that's been struggling as of late
4. Because I love the game of baseball, and I hope to improve it in any way that I can.

"To help a team that's been struggling as of late" he said.
"Alright then, excellent. You know, you've already been appointed for the job, so this interview is pointless." I said to him
"Really?! That's great! Thank you sir, thank you! But if I may ask, why did you present that question to me?"
"Well, I wanted to see who we were hiring, and it seems that we made the right choice. Welcome to the team Todd."
"Thank you sir. Thank you very much."

So now [tm], you can tell me stuff that you think I should do, and if you want to do any real research (you don't have to, but if you want to) go to this site: http://japanesebaseball.com/
It's really cool, and has all of the teams and stats.

Another possible site is: http://www.npb.or.jp/eng/
It basically does the same thing, so either choice is fine (again, this is fully optional).

PPJ: Scouting Director (right?): [Name to be determined on]

Right. I can't wait to help out as the scouting director!

June 7
As I was leaving my house to do some grocery shopping, my phone rang, and guess who it was... The owner.
"Moshi moshi" I said
"Jack, come to the office, we have someone for you to meet." He said
"Okay, I'll be right there"
He hung up, and I dropped everything, and drove as fast as I could to the stadium, as the way the owner said that sounded urgent.
When I got there, I saw someone new, someone who I've never seen before sitting in Shigeru Kanda's seat. He was our scouting director.
I asked the owner, "Hey, who's the new guy, and what happened to Kanda-senpai?"
"Kanda will be away for a long time, his wife has come down with an illness, and a bad one at that." He said to me
"Well, that isn't good. But, who's the new guy? His replacement I would assume."
You have assumed correctly, he is his replacement. His name, I don't remember..."
"What? How do you expect me to hire him if I don't know his name?"
"Wing it."
"Wing it?"
"Wing it. It's the only thing you can do."
"Okay sir, I'll do that."
So, I made the decision to "wing it" and went over to talk to him.
"Hello, my name is Jack Allen, I'm the new GM here."
"Hi, my name is Preston Greene" He said to me
"(Thank god he told me his name) Hello Preston, how are you doing today?"
"Good sir, how are you?"
"Fine, thank you for asking. I hear your trying to become the new scouting director, huh?"
"Yes sir. I heard that there was a spot open and-"
"Speak no more, welcome to the team."
"You're not going to interview me or anything?"
"Nope, you look qualified."
"Jack!" The owner gave me the look-of-death.
"Sir, I'm sure you'll understand, this man looks fully qualified, plus we need a new scouting director, and he's the only one who applied." I said back to him.
"Fine, but if this is the wrong decision, you're in for it Jack."
"'It'?"
I disregarded his statement, and hoped that it was the right decision.

Preston Greene will be my name, as I have used this alias in both stemmy's (dead?) log, and in my Backyard Baseball log, so why stop now? ;)

And hiring me WILL be the right decision. ;)
