KANSAS CITY -- The Royals have won game three and are a win away from heading to the championship series. Ross Gload belted a solo shot in the second for a one-run lead, but Jack Wilson ripped an RBI double in the third to tie it up. Felipe Lopez gave the Royals the lead again in the third with a two-run double. Nick Johnson provided one more for the Royals with a solo homer in the fourth. Jack Wilson blasted a solo shot in the sixth, and Richie Sexson hit one out in the ninth, but the Royals held on to win.

ALDS - Kansas City Royals (2-1) @ Seattle Mariners (1-2): Game 4
October 9, 2010


SEATTLE -- With an epic comeback win, thee Kansas City Royals are going to the American League Championship Series! The Mariners hit Kelvim Escobar hard in the early innings. Adrian Beltre jacked a two-run homer in the first, and Jose Lopez got an RBI single in the second for a three-run lead. The Royals finally got on the board in the eighth with a solo homer by John Buck, but Raul Ibanez got that run back with an RBI single in the bottom of the inning. Down by three, this game went to the ninth. Jose Guillen lead-off with a single, and was followed with a single by Nick Johnson, who was followed with a single by Ross Gload to load the bases for Khalil Greene. On the second pitch of the at-bat, Felix Hernandez left a changeup down the middle, and Greene crushed it to deep left-center for a grand slam to go up by one. Soria closed out the ninth to send the Royals on to the next round of the post season.

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals lost game one of this ALCS, getting hammered by Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees. Alex Rodriguez hit home run number one in the fourth with a solo shot. Melky Cabrera got an RBI single later in the inning to go up by two. Alex Rodriguez hit his second homer in the sixth with another solo shot, but Felipe Lopez got an RBI single in the bottom of that inning to get that run back. Alex Rodriguez hit his third and final home run in the seventh with a two-run shot, and was followed with a solo shot by Jorge Posada going back-to-back. Nick Johnson got one more for the Royals in the ninth with an RBI single, but it wasn't nearly enough as the Yankees overpower the Royals.

KANSAS CITY -- The series is evened up now with a win over the Yankees in game two for the Royals. Jose Guillen lead-off the bottom of the second with a solo home run for a one-run lead. John Buck made it a two-run lead in the fifth with his own solo homer. Derek Jeter jacked a solo shot in the sixth, to bring it within one, and Robinson Cano ripped a two-run triple to give the Yankees a one-run lead. Seventh inning, Felipe Lopez RBI double. Eighth inning, Nick Johnson two-run homer. The Royals came back, though. Felipe Lopez tied it up with an RBI double in the seventh, and Nick Johnson blasted a two-run homer in the eighth to give the Royals a two-run lead as they go on to win this one.

NEW YORK -- The Royals have won two straight thanks to a dominant pitching performance by Kelvim Escobar here in game three. Nick Johnson got the scoring started in the fourth with a solo home run. Jose Guillen provided three more with a three-run jack in the sixth. Kelvim Escobar pitched a complete game shutout tonight allowing just five hits.

NEW YORK -- The Royals are now one win away from going to the World Series! And they can do so in front of their home crowd as the series heads back to Kansas City. Nick Johnson, who has been doing great at the plate all post season, jacked a two-run homer in the second inning. Mark Teahen made it a four run lead in the third with a two-run double. And Khalil Greene jacked a solo shot in the fourth for a five-run lead. Jason Giambi got the Yankees on the board in the fourth with an RBI single. Alex Rodriguez added two more in the seventh with a two-run homer. The Royals really separated themselves in the eighth when John Buck hit an RBI double, and Mark Teahen blasted a three-run homer. Melky Cabrera tried getting something going for the Yankees in the bottom of the inning with a solo shot, but the Royals won and hope to win one more.

ALCS - New York Yankees (2-3) @ Kansas City Royals (3-2): Game 6

KANSAS CITY -- THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES! They beat the Mariners in four games in the ALDS. And now they have beat the Yankees in six games in the ALCS. The Yankees jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Alex Rodriguez hit an RBI double, and Hideki Matsui got a two-run double. After the first inning, Gil Meche would not allow another hit in this game. The Royals started their comeback in the third when Felipe Lopez belted a solo home run. Nick Johnson hit his own solo shot in the fourth to bring the game within one. And finally, the Royals had a huge six run fifth, scoring all six runs before an out was even recorded. Felipe Lopez belted a two-run double. Mark Teahen, ripped an RBI double, and so did Jose Guillen before Nick Johnson blasted a two-run homer, his second of the game as the Royals go on to win the game and the series and are headed to the World Series where the Philadelphia Phillies await them.

World Series - Kansas City Royals (0-0) @ Philadelphia Phillies (0-0): Game 1

PHILADELPHIA -- Thanks to some power, the Philadelphia Phillies have won game one of the World Series. Jose Guillen jacked a two-run homer in the first for the game's first runs. Unfortunately, the Phillies also scored two runs in the first. Chase Utley ripped an RBI triple, and then scored on a wild pitch. Jimmy Rollins gave the Phillies the lead in the second with an RBI double, but Nick Johnson got the lead for the Royals in the fourth with a two-run homer. Ryan Howard tied it up in the fifth with a solo homer, and gave the Phillies a three-run lead in the seventh with a three-run bomb. The Royals scored another run in the ninth on an RBI double by Alex Gordon, but it wasn't enough to beat the Phillies.
