I couldn't find it in the manual, but is there a way to manually switch fielders? For some reason, the game will occassionally default to the wrong fielder.

The DS version seems to have tighter fielding as a far as defaulting to whoever is in the best position to make a play. Or am I missing something and is there a way to make the Wii fielding tighter?

This would be useful. Most of the runs I've given up haven been a result of thinking it'll be one fielder and diving the wrong way.

So it's not just me then.

The game selecting the wrong fielders sometimes is probably the worst thing in this game, and that's saying something. I think I remember reading about a button combination to switch to the fielder closest to the ball, although I'm not sure if it worked, but chances are by the time you notice it's the wrong fielder the ball will already be past you, or dropped in the infield.

There is no known way to change it, you just have to be ready. But you should get used to it after a while.

Yeah, for the most part I field reasonably well if I play the game regularly enough. It's not that it messes up that often, but when it does, it messes up badly.

Part of the problem is probably because I spent a lot of time on the DS version prior to trying the Wii version, so I'm still getting used to all the nuances in the Wii version.

You can hit L1(I play ps2, sorry wii owners!) to switch fielders, but it always ends up bad for me. If my SS is chasing a fly ball and I want the outfielder to catch it, I can never make it happen and it's a base hit.
