Our school's gifted program had a contest between 6th, 7th, and 8th grade advanced students. We competed to see who could raise the most money for Haiti, but there's a catch. Quarters are negative value, and if you put some in another team's container, they can't take them out. And MY TEAM WON!!!!!!!!!! 8TH GRADE RULES! 8TH GRADE RULES! We get a pizza party! :yay:

That quarter thinng is a great idea. I'm sure that alone got at least a few hundred dollars extra. But why restrict it to just the advanced students?

Well, the rest of the 7th graders are going to have their war next, then the 6th graders, then the 8th graders. And by the way, we raised $1800 in a little over a week. 95 of those came from me :angel:

OK, let me try to explain this again. The 3 teams were each trying to raise money for Haiti. They have 2 totals: Money and points. Money is the total amount of cash in their container, and points is the cash in their container, but with the quarters counting as negative 25 cents each. If you put quarters in someone else's container, they can't take them out. Whoever has the most points at the end of the Quarter Wars wins a pizza party. My team won because we're awesome like that. :P

If you want to be even more giving, you can forego the pizza party altogether and give the pizza money to Haiti.

Well, it's used as a motivator. If they benefit, they like it more. My friend, who I've mentioned before, had many relatives in Port-au-Prince, so I donated a lot because I have a personal reason to. I'm not sure how many Haitians they have in that school, so they have a more personal reason to donate.
