Mistakes Doom Stars, Blownout in Extras
They had a chance. 4-4 going into the bottom of the 10th. Then, Eugene Perry took the ball, and gave up 5 runs. Errors left and right. The Stars had 2 on and 2 gone and a bloop single turned into Donald Neal gettig out at home.

9-4 in 11, Paw-Stonias Grizzly Bears

Stars Make Incredible Comeback, but lose 13-11
The game was started on a bad note. the first 5 innings, Spokane went up 12-0. but two straight 4 run innings brought new hope to the Stars. They headed to the ninth down 13-8. Some walks and key hits made it 13-11. Then, with the game on the line, 2 outs, bases loaded, Chris Smith grounds out to end the game.

The starting pitcher Ricardo Campbell had this to say:
Quote:
You know, I gave up all those runs, and then my team worked and fought for that win. That shows you something.

Missed Opporitunities Lose Showdown vs. The Strokes
Inning after inning, the Stars missed scoring chances that would have tied or won the game. The biggest. No outs, top 8, bases juiced. Result: 0 Runs.

Quote:
This has to be changed-Manager Tony Rios

This loss puts the Stars 5 games below 500

You need to start putting more meat into this log. All you are doing is posting headlines and it is very boring. I might even stop following soon if this is all you plan to do.

Not Really. I write articles with summaries, player comments, etc. While you are putting a headline in your teams color and then writing one sentence on the headline. Is this what you ment Bobby?

Yes LM is right. Even though rob's entries are short at least they give player quotes and his thoughts on the games.

Out With the Old, In With the New
The Central Texas Stars went young today, claiming 1B Robert Cade and 3B Joseph Hayes. Hayes is 27 and Cade is 29. Donald Neal was released released. Mark Garcia was moved to AAA for some pinch hitting help. DH James McKinney had this to say:
Quote:
Don and Mark were very helpful in my first year of professional ball. They will always be close and in contact with me as mentors.

Neal hit .323 and 47 homers in his 6 seasons in park ball, all with dap61.
Garcia hit .308 and 154 homers in 18 seasons of park ball.

Cade played one year of AA ball and Hayes was released from an A ball team earlier this year.

William Jackson: Living the Dream
After having successful seasons with the dap61 Park team, Starting Pitcher William Jackson was signed to a low money 1 year deal to test AAA. In 1916, his first year after being released from the AA Cairo Heiroglyphics, Jackson tried out for the 12 Year Olds Throwing Curveballs. He made it. In 22 starting appearances, he went 13-4 with a 2.26 ERA, 169 Strikeouts, and only 7 Homers given up. His numbers declined for a couple years with the Stars Hitting taking a turn for the worst. At Spring Training 1920, he proved he still had stuff, and at winter meetings 1920, he was signed to a 1 year, $500 a month contract to play for the AAA Oceanside Grizzlies in the Metro League. As a 32 year old, he has pitched 6 games, has a 2-1 record, a 3.86 ERA, 45 Strikeouts, and 2 homers given up. He knows at any point he could lose his job, so he is "loving every second of it".
