Cogarts to Mauer and Pujols. They deserve it.

Phillies sign Placido Polanco ($18M over 3 years)

Personally, I'm not happy with this signing. I think that the Phillies should have signed Adrian Beltre. He is 5 years younger, just about as good a hitter, a better fielder, and probably wouldn't have cost much more. Polanco will be 37 at the end of the contract. He's a good player, but I feel that Beltre would have been a much better fit.

Also, Phillies sign Brian Schneider and Juan Castro.

I agree. This polanco deal will turn out looking like the Luis Castillo deal. I also think they should have signed Beltre.

I'm glad the cubs traded Miles, but not so much Fox...
If only Fox could've been Milton Bradley

wow this from MLB.Com. A dynamic 3-way trade here
Oh yeah and Pudge signed with the Nats too but heres the big story

Yankees Get:
Curtis Granderson(DET)

Tigers Get:
Daniel Schlerth(ARZ)
Max Scherzer(ARZ)
Austin Jackson(NY)
Phil Coke(NY)

Diamondbacks Get:
Edwin Jackson(DET)
Ian Kennedy(NY)

Well the Yankees just gave away their best OF prospect and two pitchers. I like Granderson but he has his flaws but he is a great player

The D-Backs get a 3rd starter that looks good behind Webb and Haren and Kennedy can fit in somewhere. They gave up a pitcher with great stuff in Scherzer and don't lose much with Schlerth

and the Tigers pretty much just sold their 2010 season. They didn't get trash tough. They get two lefty relief pitchers but also get a good starter with potential and the Yankees best OF prospect

its tough to see who really wins here

I say D-Backs lose big time. They give away a future ace in Scherzer (and is already a good 3 starter) for a good 2 starter in Jackson. Kennedy is not worth as much anymore and I honestly don't see him doing any better than a 4th starter at best.

The Yankees give away their top prospect sure, but Granderson has three more years I think. If they have him then they won't need Jackson. Granderson is also much more affordable than Matt Holliday. Like I said before I don't think Kennedy will do well. And Coke doesn't seem like any more than a Joe Beimel type.

The Tigers made a smart move. They see the Twins have a good team and the White Sox are making moves to try compete. They wanted to shred payroll and they did. Of course, moving Robertson and Bonderman would have been nice but they still did a good job. They got a high upside impact player in Jackson. Like I said before, Scherzer is a future ace. I don't know much about Schlereth but I've heard he pans out to be a pretty good reliever. So definitely a win for Detroit.

I order this trade:
1. Tigers - WINNER!!!
2. Yankees
3. Diamondbacks - LOSER

As a Mets fan I love this deal. Now the Yankees probably won't get Holliday, leaving him for us hopefully. And now that Kennedy and Jackson are gone, the Ynanks won't get Halladay most likely. I know the MEts weont get him but I still dont want the Yankees to have him.

Beat me to it

Wow! This is huge! Granderson would fit perfectly in New York's outfield, and his left-handed swing is tailor-made for Yankee Stadium. This trade is proof that the Tigers are going bankrupt and are in full rebuilding mode. It's not a bad deal, and they get a bunch of good young prospects. And finally, what have the Diamondbacks done?! They traded away one of their best young pitchers for a pair of so-so, inconsistent starters that could become expensive very soon. To the Diamondbacks, this trade does not improve the team in any way.

In my opinion, this trade is great for the Yankees, fairly good for the Tigers, and useless for the Diamondbacks.

I saw this too and I am very suprised that this went through

I agree with Longball on this, for the D-Backs its useless in a way but lets just see how Jackson and Kennedy do now that they're in the National League but I don't think they lost on this trade

The only real prizes that the Tigers get in this are Austin Jackson and Max Scherzer. Other than that they got two RP who aren't really going to make a huge impact at all. Bad trade for the Tigers even though they needed to cut down some salaries

For the Yankees.. Granderson is going to abuse that right field wall. He'll hit 35+ homeruns. Perfect fit in New York but I wonder if this effects Damon signing

Ken Rosenthal just said on MLB Network that Daniel Schlereth is going to be a really good reliever. Probably closer material. And coke is a good lefty reliever, those are a rare species nowadays and very valuble.

Dishnetkid is very upset over this deal for the Tigers, but don't you guys think he should be happy?

In other, less important, news, the Cardinals sign Brad Penny to a 1-year, $7.5 Million deal.

I personally love this signing, because now the Cards don't have to rely on only 2 starters to get everything done. Plus, a lot of pitchers have better seasons after a move to St. Louis. (Carpenter, Pineiro, Lohse, Franklin, Smoltz, Wellemeyer, etc.) I love the depth this will bring. Penny, while inconsistent and a bit of an injury risk, can be a monster when he's on his game. (2006 All-Star Game, anyone?) All in all, a very good signing for the Cards.
