Wow, I fail pretty badly, I tried that for like 20 minutes before it even occurred to me that 1.99 multiplied by 8 is lower than 16.11

X=8-Y

1.69(8-Y)+1.99Y=16.11

13.52-1.69Y+1.99Y=16.11

0.3Y=2.59

Y=8.63333...

X=-0.6333...

Therefore, Jeff bought -0.6333... of item X. There you go. :mrgreen:
