Kevin Gregg thinks he should get a chance to be the closer because his ERA is almost 2 whole points lower than Street's.

Ikari thinks you should give him a multi-year contract when his current contract expires.
Duke likes his win total, but wants to try to lower the ERA.

I'll worry about Ikari in the offseason and I like Duke's 7-0 record since April but I'd like his ERA to go down a little too

not yet, I still trust Street more than I trust Gregg for now but that could change one day

You absolutely have to win the World Series this year. It's your only chance to avoid bankruptcy.

Or you can just trade off an expensive contract.

Reds Win Wild One on Fourth of July

July 4 -- The Reds were able to go into Pittsburgh and take a wild one from the Pirates on this 4th of July. Jay Bruce hit a towering homerun in the 1st inning to make it 2-0 but Jones would hit an RBI single in the 1st and an RBI single by Baldelli in the 4th made it tied at 2-2. But the Reds would chase Zach Duke out of the game in the 6th inning, an RBI groundout by Bruce and RBI singles by Scott Rolen and Ramon Hernandez made it 5-2 in the 6th inning. After the Pirates scored 2 in the bottom of the 7th inning to make it 5-4 Reds, Brandon Phillips hit a 3-run homerun to make the game look out of reach at 8-4 in the 8th inning. But after scoring twice in the 8th inning, Pittsburgh went into the 9th inning down only 8-6. Jayson Werth hit an RBI single off of Fransisco Cordero with 2 outs in the 9th inning to make it 8-7 and then Garrett Jones beat out an off balance throw by shortstop Paul Janish which would be enough to get Werth to 3rd base with 2 outs and score 8-7. But Ikari would ground out to end the ball game to give the Reds the win in Pittsburgh.

All-Star Game Starters Revealed For 2012 All-Star Game In Seattle

The All-star game starting position players for the 2012 All-Star game have been announced. This time the all-star game will be held in Seattle, Washington at Safeco Field, home of the Mariners. It marks the first time since 2008 since the last all-star game has been held at an American League ballpark. The NL won last year at Dodgers Stadium breaking a very long curse of falling to the AL.

American League

C - Mauer (MIN)
1B - Konerko (CWS)
2B - Ellis (OAK)
3B - A.Rodriguez (NYY)
SS - Tejeda (BAL)
OF - Crawford (TB)
OF - Guerrero (LAA)
OF - Sizemore (CLE)
DH - Giambi (NYY)

National League

C - Torrealba (COL)
1B - Delgado (FLA)
2B - Utley (PHI)
3B - Wright (NYM)
SS - Reyes (NYM)
OF - Ramirez (LAD)
OF - Beltran (PHI)
OF - Rios (COL)

Pirates Get 3 Selected through fan voting

The Pirates got three invited to join the all-star game as voted by the coaches. RHP Anibal Sanchez, CF Andrew McCutchen, and a suprise as LHP Joe Beimel will also be invited. It is rare that a set-up man gets any support but he has a 1.83 ERA this season. A few position player snubs were Ryan Doumit who has 10 homeruns and a .303 average and Garrett Jones with 20 homeruns but the final man voting has yet to begin and it is unknown who is on it yet.

Lohse Delivers Again As Early Runs Beat Colorado

July 8 -- The Pirates were able to take down a Rockies team that has been a good story in baseball this year. They are in first place and have good hitters such as Victorino(MLB hits leader), Alex Rios(21 HR, .327 AVG), Torrealba(All-star game starter along with Rios) and they always have the same guys like Tulowitzki, Helton and Atkins to balance it out. But the Pirates scored twice in the 1st inning on an RBI groundout by Fontenot and an RBI single by Ikari, they scored another in the 2ND inning with a Doumit RBI single to make it 3-0 against Matt Belisle. Kyle Lohse was dominant today and has been lately. He threw 8 innings of 1 run ball and stuck out 9 hitters, his only run was on a solo homerun by Yorvit Torrealba in the 6th inning but that was all Colorado could muster as former Rockies closer Street closed the door in the 9th.

Wow, that's awesome! Didn't Duke throw a no-hitter? Was that before Maine's in 2009?

yeah Duke's was in 2008 against the Braves and Maine's was in 2009 against someone

I was lucky to see that. I was looking at player records and it said he did it on July 13th and I went back to the menu and it said July 13th so it was the perfect time to make it a headline

Pence Sends Pirates To Break on sour note

July 14 -- The Pirates took a tough loss late to the Houston Astros to end their unofficial first half that sends them to the all-star break. It was a battle against Zach Duke and Jack Cassell who were both impressive. But the Pirates scored 1st in the 7th inning with a 2-run homerun by Jayson Werth to chase Cassell out of the game. But Zach Duke may have gone too long in the 8th inning. He gave up an RBI hit by Kaz Matsui and the got 2 on with 2 outs for Hunter Pence. Huston Street came in to get the 4 out save up 2-1 but he gave up a 3-run homerun to Hunter Pence to turn the game around and make it 4-2 Astros. The Pirates would get a run scoring hit from Mike Fontenot but Oscar Villarreal would have a 1-2-3 9th inning to convert his 10th save of the season.
