It's been awhile since I've talked about his abilities

D contact
B power
F run speed
D arm strength
F Fielding
4 TRJ
Gd Bunt

The good bunt is kind of random but I'll live. He's really turned into a power hitter after getting 4 trajectory last season but I probably only hit 7 of his 32 homeruns last season so I'm glad that I'm not the one hitting 32 homeruns for him

And he's 26 right now I think

ya he was a 1st round draft pick by me in 2009. I got him early because I was coming off my bad 2008 season and I believe I picked 5th

I also got Ross Glanville in the 2009 draft too

Early Explosion Enough For Cook As He Shuts Out 'Stros, Goes to 3-0

April 18 -- The Pirates scored a season high in runs in an inning with 7 runs in the 1st inning to back an absolute masterpiece by Aaron Cook(3-0). It started in the 1st inning with a 2-run homerun by Ramon Vazquez, a double by Werth set up an RBI single by Garrett Jones, Delwynn Young would drive him in to make it 5-0 at that point and they would score 7 runs in 1/3 of an inning off of Huisman. The only hit the Astro's would get was in the 4th inning on a double by Michael Bourn but he would retire everyone else for the 1-hit complete game shutout that gets him to 3-0 in 4 starts on the season and it continues the great offense attack that the Pirates have shown this season.

Jones Comes Through In the 10th For 3rd Straight Win

April 20 -- The Pirates got their 3rd straight win after coming back from 3-0 to win in 10 innings. The Brewers scored first in the 1st inning with a 2-run homerun by Fielder and then scored in the 5th with an RBI by Michael Barrett. The Pirates have been waiting to get something out of Ikari and he came through big today with a solo homerun in the 6th inning to cut it to 3-1 and then with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the 8th inning, the came through again with a 2-run single to tie the game at 3. The game stayed 3-3 in the bottom of the 9th where Neshek came up clutch. He came in with the bases loaded and nobody up and got Hart to ground to Cedeno who threw home for 1 out and then on the next hitter, Bill Hall, he got him to ground into an inning ending double play to bring the game into the 10th inning. That's where with 2 outs, Garrett Jones hit an opposite field homerun off of Seth McClung to get the 4-3 lead. Huston Street had a 1-2-3 inning but the only scary moment was when former Pirates Chris Duffy came within feet of tying the game with a homerun near the pole but it was foul and he struck out looking on the next pitch to end the game. The Pirates got good performances out of guys who have had horrendous starts. Mike Fontenot came into today hitting .167 and 9-54 with 1 RBI and he got 3 hits today and Ikari was hitting .154 with no homeruns and 6 RBI's and had 3 hits, a homerun and 3 RBI's

Dodgers Sweep On Roberts Dramatic Walk-Off Homerun

April 27 -- After winning 5 straight games, the Pirates have lost 4 straight in getting swept to the Los Angeles Dodgers in LA. The Dodgers scored first in the 1st inning off of Kyle Lohse with an RBI by Furcal and they took a 4-0 lead in the 5th inning with a 3-run homerun by Manny Ramirez. But the Pirates still had fight in them scoring 2 runs in the 6th with a 2-run double by Mike Fontenot(he had 1 RBI this whole season and drove in 2 in one at bat) and then Rocco Baldelli struck for his 1st homerun with the Pirates in the 7th with a game-tying 2-run homerun off of Hung-Chi Kuo. Garrett Jones hit a 2 out, RBI single to left field in the 8th to suddenly take the lead and they scored one more in the 9th inning and they had a 6-4 lead. Street had only blown one save this season and put 2 runners on in the 9th inning, but with 1 out, Brian Roberts managed to hit a sinker around the right field pole for the dramatic 3-run walk-off, come from behind homerun and the Dodgers got their 5th straight win while Pittsburgh has lost 4 straight, all to LA. And now if the Cubs win today, they will be tied for 1st place and the Cubs have been playing red-hot lately.

Sanchez Comes Through in Pitcher's Duel As Bucs Take 2 of 3

April 30 -- The Pirates were able to survive a pitchers duel with a big hit from Jones and a great performance by Anibal Sanchez. It was a great matchup with Sanchez(3.28 ERA) and Javier Vazquez(1.23 ERA) who hasn't gotten any run support and should have a few more wins. The early story was Sanchez who went 5 1/3 innings of perfect baseball until his perfect game and no-hitter was broken up in the 6th by former Pirates Adam LaRoche. But in the 7th inning the Pirates responded with a solo homerun by Garrett Jones for the 1st run of the game. Sanchez and Vazquez would end up firing 8 innings while Vazquez gave up only 1 run but was overlooked by 8 shutout from Sanchez. Huston Street got another save as he has a high ERA(7.47) but has 10 saves but the ERA is based on 2 performances where he went a combined 1 inning and 7 runs against both the Astros and Dodgers.

Dodgers Rally Late To Win 5th Straight Vs Pittsburgh

April 31 -- The Dodgers have had the Pirates number this season and they continued their success with thei 5th straight win over Pittsburgh this season. The Pirates led early against Huroki Kuroda(6.28 ERA) when Jayson Werth hit an RBI double in the 1st inning and Ronny Cedeno singled to drive in a run in the 5th inning and the Pirates led 2-0. But that lead wouldn't last. Los Angeles rallied in the 6th inning with a homerun by standout catcher Russell Martin and they took the lead in the 7th inning, a homerun by Manny Ramirez and then an RBI single by Brian Roberts knocked out Aaron Cook and gave the Dodgers a 3-2 lead. Casey Blake put it away in the 8th inning off of Pat Neshek with an RBI single to go on to win it 4-2 and end April and surprisingly not end in 1st place.

Pirates April In Review

The Pirates had their ups and downs and are still looking good with a 17-11 record, but are in 2nd place in the NL Central to the surprise Chicago Cubs. In the first month there were some big problems, Ikari and Fontenot struggled mightily with low averages, Doumit, Jones and Cedeno struggled with averages, Duke and Maholm struggled and Street hasn't been able to keep his ERA down but it was only 2 games where his ERA was really effected. Joe Beimel and Kevin Hart were dominant in the bullpen and Gregg has gotten over his 1 bad outing to post a 4.91 ERA which is good considering he gave up 5 runs in 2/3 of an inning back in early April. Street has gotten the job done besides a bloated ERA, 10 out of 12 in his save chances. But the Pirates always have a lot holes but manage to still keep on winning games

Dumatrait Called Up, Zagurski Optioned to AAA

The Pirates have decided to give LHP Phil Dumatrait after Mike Zagurski posted a 9.00 ERA so far. This could be his only chance, he hasn't been up much in his career since '09 but will be given a chance a long reliever and a guy who can get lefties out. Zagurski may get released based on Dumatrait's performance while Dumatrait may be released if he doesn't do well opening the door to Carmen Pignatiello.

Holliday's Triple Sends Bucs to 5th Straight Loss

May 4 -- It has been a struggle for the Pirates lately and are now 2-11 in their last 13, 0-5 in May with most of this damage coming from two 4 game sweeps from the Dodgers and their only wins have been against the Braves. The Pirates scored first in the 4th inning with a 2-run single by Steve Pearce and then fell behind in the 4th inning with a 3-run homerun by Mark DeRosa and the Pirates tied it again in the 5th inning with an RBI by Andrew McCutchen. In the 8th, Phil Dumatrait came in to face Skip Schumaker who doubled off of him and so the Pirates intentionally walked Albert Pujols to get to Holliday, big mistake. Matt Holliday tripled into left center field to give them the lead 5-3 in the 8th and then Khalil Greene singled in Holliday to take a somewhat insurmountable 6-3 lead with 3 outs left. Franklin got the 1-2-3 inning as the Cardinals won their 5th straight and handed Pittsburgh their 5th straight loss.

From Close No-Hitter To Close Heart breaker, Pirates hold on

May 17 -- Aaron Cook almost made history today in Houston only a month after he 1-hit the Astros here, he almost no-hit them. The Pirates scored first in the 1st inning with a 2-run homerun by Jayson Werth and led 5-0 in the 8th where Aaron Cook had a no-hitter going against the Houston Astros. Although it was not meant to be when 1st basemen Bullinger singled to center field to end it with 1 out in the inning. But he had more to worry about, a few hitters later Jason Michaels hit a 2-run double and Hunter Pence homered to right center and all of a sudden it was a close 5-4 game. But Huston Street put his woes from earlier in the season against the Astros behind him for a 1-2-3 ninth inning after the Pirates almost saw De Ja Vu from blowing a big lead in April against the 'Stros.

Well guys I think it's time to part with someone

Ronny Cedeno or Mike Fontenot will be leaving(sorry Cubs fans)

Here's the stats layout

Cedeno: .190 AVG(4th worst in majors), 2 HR, 14 RBI, 1 Double, .540 OPS

Fontenot: .238 AVG, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 10 Doubles(leads team), .638 OPS

It's tough. Fontenot has shown no production, no homeruns and 3 rbi's is just unheard of at this point, he hit 18 homeruns and around 95 RBI's last year, he is: D contact, C power, 2 TRJ, C run spd, C arm, E fld

Cedeno has shown nothing really. 1 double!?!?! thats out of this world at this point, he has 3 triples and 1 double. His OPS is just terrible and a .190 average for a position meant for some average hitters is not good at all. But he is great defensivly

Cedeno: D contact, E power, 2 TRJ, B run speed, A arm, B fld, B e res

I'm leaning towards a new second basemen, the name Asdrubal Cabrera sounds good...
