Coming off a frustrating series against the Nationals where the Nats took two of three in Nationals Parkm, the Pirates headed to Coors Field for the first time this year to take on the team that 4 game swept them at home. The Pirates need every game now because the Astros, Cardinals and Pirates are all tied for first with the Brewers now only 3 games back as well. The Pirates got to starter Matt Belisle in 4 2/3 innings capped by a leadoff homerun by Andrew McCutchen and a 2 run single by Ikari. Mike Fontenot added an opposite homerun off of Corpas in the 6th and Jeff Karstens who has arguably been the best Pirates starter of the year pitched 5 2/3 innings of 2 run ball, he continues to do very well despite not being able to go alot of innings because of his control and stamina not quite up there yet

The struggling Pirates have been swept by the Chicago Cubs after today's 6-4 loss. The Cubs scored 3 in the first with a 3 run homerun by Milton Bradley and they just padded on later with a 2 run homerun by Soto and a solo homerun by Ramirez in the 9th. Vazquez hit a 2 out, 2 run homerun in the 9th to make it 6-4 but that was not enough. It seems like noone wants to win the Central but teams are catching up but the Pirates came into today tied with the Cardinals. They will play a crucial series with St Louis at PNC Park next.

Pirates Break Losing Record Streak

With a win over the Cardinals on Friday, the Pirates for the first time since 1992 will have a winning record and they are as of now 82-70.

In other news, the Chicago White Sox have won the AL Central Division and the New York Mets have clinched the NL East Division crown

The Pirates won their best game of the season with a thrilling extras win to put the Pirates in first place by a game. The Cardinals struck first with Colby Rasmus homering to right to make it 1-0 early and the Cardinals would keep a 2-0 lead until the 8th when McCutchen hit a ground rule double to make it 2-1 and put runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out, Ruggiano would hit a sac fly next to tie it at 2. Lightning struck at the bottom of the 11th when with 2 outs and the winning run on for the Pirates, Amezaga hit his biggest homerun as a Pirates, a walk-off two run homerun off of Randy Flores to propel the Pirates into 1st place in their last game against the Cardinals this season.

wow just wow

so there are 6 games left and things got messed up. The Brewers are blazing right now and are in first after sweeping me

The Marlins came out of nowhere and are now in first with a comfy lead in the wild card

I play the Reds for 3 more games and the final 3 are @ Milwaukee

I'm only 1 game behind right now and my next game log will be of the final series

The Final Push | Series will make or change Central

It all comes down to this, the Pirates, Cardinals and Brewers all in there. The Astros who once had a 5 game lead in August is now 3 games behind and it will take an unheard of miracle to make the playoffs. The Pirates and Brewers are tied for first but here are how the standings look for the guys who are contending to win the Central

Brewers | 85-74

Pirates | 85-74

Cardinals | 84-75

Astros | 82-77

The Pirates will be in Milwaukee for the final 3 games of the year and the Astros will be St. Louis. There is no wild card so this is a playoff series right here, especially for the Pirates and Brewers. The Brewers came out of nowhere to come back and they weren't even thought to be close to the division in August but things have changed for sure.

Here's how it will go:

Game 1 of the Series: Glanville Vs Capuano

Game 2 of the Series: Maholm Vs ?

Game 3 of the Series: Sanchez Vs ?

Any last thoughts before I start this series? this is the season right here...

How many HRs, if any, has Ikari hit?

Also, all my other clients from other teams that aren't in the playoff push are rooting for you to go to the playoffs.

The Pirates season is hanging on a thread after a devastating 3-1 loss. The Pirates got up to an early lead thanks to a Ronny Cedeno RBI single but bad plays would ruin their chances. The Pirates had a 1-0 lead going into the 8th when Jason Kendall tied it with an RBI double but it would only get uglier as the Brewers would take the lead on a ball that went through Amezaga's legs at third base and they would get another when Ronny Cedeno air-mailed the 1st basemen's head. Capuano was also dominant going 8 great innngs.
