Andrew McCutchen demands the front office to acquire Jayson Werth or Cody Ross by next year. If you don't, he will hold out and demand a huge salary raise.

The Pirates went into Wrigley Field to open up a 3 game series, the first after the dealine. The game started off well with a first inning RBI single for Doumit off of former Pirates Tom Gorzallany in the 1st but Aramis Ramirez would come back and tie the game with a homerun off of Sanchez. Later on, Reed Johnson who was filling in for injured Alfonso Soriano hit an rbi single to make it 2-1 Cubs but pinch hitter Jeff Salazar would get his 16th rbi with a sac fly. Luis Rivas later gave the Pirates the lead for good with a solo homerun off of Neal Cotts and Hanrahan would get pinch hitter Micah Hoffpauir to ground into a double play to end it. This was also a homecoming for Mike Fontenot who grounded out in a pinch hit at bats but Gorzallany, Capps, Grabow, Fontenot, Cedeno and Kevin Hart were all a part of one of these clubs earlier in their careers. Gorzallany also had to leave the game with elbow pains

I will represent Grabow and Fontenot.
Also, could you post the roles of the new players please?

Ok let me think about this for a second

My new lineup is:

CF- McCutchen
SS- Cedeno
1B- Jones
C- Doumit
2B- Fontenot
LF- Milledge
RF- Young, Pearce, Salazar
3B- LaRoche

My lineup says that I have Young as my starting RF and I like that he's a switch hitter. But Pearce has 4 honeruns and not a great average, only 1 hr for Young and a low average too
Salazar has 2 honeruns but maybe not enough at bats to look at that .280 or so average. My problem with Salazar is that he plays CF, not RF. McCutchen plays right field too but he's a pure center fielder, he has A run speed now, if Salazar hits enough I could put Jones in right field and Salazar at 1st base

Grabow is a set-up man and lefty specialist because Dunatraits more of a long reliever with D stamina

My rotation is: Maholm, Duke, Hart, Karstens and Sanchez

my pen is Osorio, Yates, Grabow, Bautista, Dumatrait, Meek and the closer is now Hanrahan

The trade dealine is past too so no trades

Jones, Doumit, McCutchen and Cedeno are almost always gonna be in the lineup and the first 3 should be players to build a team around

and todays the last day for agents to choose their teams because it's to confusing so after sjax's last agent choice, no more

The point of the agents thing was to be involved but you can have both of those guys too
I just didn't want it to get to the point where everyone controlled every player because that would get hard to manage

After taking 2 of 3 from the Cubs the Pirates wanted to continue their success into the second series or August in hot Chase Fields. The Pirates started off hot with 2 runs off of Jon Garland in the 1st but Hart would struggle mightily in the 2nd and give up 4 runs. But the Pirates were able to tie it but a homerun from Chris Young off of Bautista ended up being the deciding run in a 5-4 loss.

Pirates: 4
D-Backs: 5

After losing 2 of 3 from the D-Backs, the Pirates just wanted to start off well in Philly which they did tonite. Carlos Ruiz provided some early offense with a 2 run double off of Maholm in the 1st but it was all Pirates after as LaRoche, Rivas, Milledge and Vazquez would all homer to provide 6 runs for the Pirates and leading 6-2 in the 9th, the Bucs would turn it over to Yates who would let up a 2-out, 2 run triple to Rollins off of the left center field wall which would take a wierd return and almost go over the center field fence so Rollins got to 3rd easily, Yates would then retire Victorino to end it but Yates continues to struggled after an all-star first half and now has a 4.24 ERA.

Pirates: 6
Phillies: 4

WP: Maholm (11-8) | LP: Madson (1-3)

HR: LaRoche (10), Vazquez (8), Rivas (4), Milledge (7)

Rivas: 1-3, 2-R HR
Doumit: 2-4
Maholm: 7 IP, 2 R

Rollins: 2-4, 2-R Triple
Ruiz: 1-4, RBI 2B
Moyer: 5 2/3 IP, 2 R

Hanrahan appreciates you trusting him with the closer spot.

Milledge would love to bat 2nd or 5th, but he'll be fine if you keep him in the 6th slot.

Finally coming home after a long road stand, the Pirates won against the Reds ace. The Pirates won 3-2 today when in the 4th, Jones hit a 2 run homerun to cap a 3 run inning off of Harang but down 3-1 in the 8th, the Reds came back with a solo homerun for Rolen off of Tyler Yates to make it 3-2 but thats how the score would be when Hanrahan had a 1-2-3 9th. Cedeno also had a great night hitting 2 doubles and 2 singles for a 4-4 night.

8/18 - Pirates call up Ohlendorf back, sends down Osorio

The Bucs sent RHP Ross Ohlendorf back to the Pirates and sent down Franquelis Osorio back down to AAA Indianapolis. Osoria had struggled badly giving up 13 runs in 5 2/3 innings for a 20.3 ERA. Ohlendorf was a starter earlier but broke down to a 5.95 ERA and is now up to help the bullpen and can be used as spot starter/long reliever. The Pirates are currently in a 4 game series at home with the Mets.
