Contract Renewals

Not much to report this year, Thurston was not given a contract though
One problem I have is that I have 2 1st basemen that can be starters bt Nomar wants 9850 points this year which is too much for a guy that I can't count on for being healthy, do you think I should trade him for some prospects?

He had the best Fielding % on my team for qualifiers at least
He was quietly amazing though

Nomar is a Desert, for now at least...
He accepted a 6560 point offered and he accepted
I'm really thinking of trading him for prospects because I need better ones. Pitchingwise, I have Chuck James and Cunnane(he was great in his call-up, he hate a 0.53 ERA in 17 innings)

And now Melhuse retired so I have no emergency catcher in AAA and not to forget that I have no other fielders down there either

Nomar traded for prospects

MLB Network is reporting that the Deserts have come to agreement with Baltimore to send former batting champ Nomar Garciappara for prospects. These 3 players are supposed to add depth to the depleted system and its also meant to give Phoenix salary help and give Davis a chance to play at 1st base this season. Nomar was a good help to the AL central champion Deserts but was prone to injury and was getting older and losing some of his skills.

Quote:
Deserts get:
LF- Brandon Fahey
1B/3B- Scott Moore
P- Dennis Sarfate

Orioles get:
1B/3B/DH Nomar Garciaparra

In Fahey, I get a player who can also play a little shortstop and second(i'll just convert him), Scott Moore who can play corner positions and has good contact, and Dennis Sarfate who throws hard and has a lvl 3 slider

success mode, he was the first player I made for this team
my players lately have been pretty good(for not saving and loading)

My Eagle's team was made of players that I made awhile ago(and a few from when I got good at making success mode players) so they should be worse but yet they won 102 games

Spring Training 2009!

ImageIt's time for the much awaited Spring Training 2009. There is not much on the slate, just trying to go back to basics. Fahey has been working on shortstop to help his versatilty and will also work on right field and maybe even 2B. He could end up on the bench instead of AAA because of his versatility, and plus he'll be another lefty on the bench,(Jacobson is the only one) and he has good speed too so Tolls has competition. Speaking of Tolls, he's learning to become versatile and he's try to learn to play left field and center field.

there was no free agency this year
It's just for this year, I mean I spent hours getting the 2009 rosters right so why should the F/A's ruin them in the first year
Free agency will be back for the next 9 years but trading won't be back for a few because trades ruin a normal roster completely
