Look, mainland U.S. consists of all of the states that are connected to each other, which there 48 states in that region, not including Hawaii and Alaska. That's probably why LB was confused with the question.

The question of most isolated island in the world is ambiguously defined if Hawaii was the expected answer. I don't know what you meant by most isolated because I don't see how Hawaii fits in.

The most isolated uninhabited island, by distance to any other island or landmass, is Bouvet Island. The most isolated inhabited island is Tristan of the Tristan da Cunha archipelago.

Thank you [bb] atleast someone knows the right answer! You could probably argue that before WW2 that Wake Island was the most isolated island but probably not anymore.


Also, for question number two, the only place I know that the Japanese invaded in America (and unsuccessfully might I add) was the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.

I know... It wasn't a state at the time. I was stating that that was the only place the Japanese tried to invade in North America.

And besides, their are two correct answers.

A Japanese sub attacked Santa Barbara and reported to have left the city in flames (not true)
Also, a Japanese sub attacked Fort Stevens in Oregon. Only damage their was reported to be a baseball backstop.

So, the right answer would be:

California and Oregon.


Canada was also shelled a bit. And the Aluetian Island battle was the first fighting on the American mainland since War of 1812.

the attack was made by a japanese pilot whos plane was on a sub and he droped bombs on the forest of oregon trying to burn resorces(failed of course) and before anything starts im taking this stuff straight off THE STATES series
