103-59

This team is a little better than my other expansion team and that team won 100 games a few times, this team is gonna be very dominant I think but this is the first time with these players so we'll see how they do

Deserts finish two game sweep of tribe

The Deserts won their second straight over the Indians in comeback fashion, but not like last time. They were down 3-0 in the game when House did it again with a 2-run single where Shin Shoo Choo let the ball get by him for another run to score to tie it. They were able to get 2 more runs and Clemente got his first save of '08. The starter Towers only went 4 innings allowing 3 runs but walked 4, he is a great control pitcher though. Bowie helped in the pen by throwing 4 shutout frames. The Final was 5-3

Up next.....

Minnesota Twins @ Phoenix Deserts: 4-6
Phoenix Deserts @ Cleveland Indians: April 7-10 (First Road Series)
Kansas City Royals @ Phoenix Deserts: April 11-13

Desert off to hot start

The Phoenix Deserts have started the year nicely with a 7-2 record. After sweeping te Tribe in a 2 game set, they won two of three to the Minnesota Twins and then took 3 of 4 from the Indians on the road in Progressive Field. They have dominated, mainly against the Indians and have been 5-1 against the 2007 AL Central Champion Indians in last place. There won't be many updates this month but if something big happens then it will be noted.

Career nights cap blowout win in Metrodome

Cooper is our number three hitter so he's expected for his power and not contact but you would be suprised to see his numbers batting over .400 with 1 homerun, well he changed that with a career night. He hit 2 homerun tonite to bring his total to 3 and had a Deserts best 6 RBIS tonite. He was alone in the homer parade as powerful catcher house hit his 3rd and 4th homers and he drove in 3. In esence, Cooper and House combined for all of their runs tonite in a 9-2 win. Blanco also was a story as he threw a complete game with 10 k's in the most dominating outing for a Phoenix pitcher this year. The Deserts are off to a blistering 11-2 start which is tied for the Cubs for the best MLB record.

April in Review- Good start finishes with struggles

The Deserts finish the month with a 15-13 record. They started off 11-2 but fell apart to a 4-9 ending. They played the Eagles for their first 7 meetings, they still have one more game in May and thats it. It was a bad offensive ending though. Gonzalez's average went from over .300 to .282 in the final days of April due to injuries that cost him almost a week, Chavez's average slipped almost 60 points to .244, Ikari only batted .227 and Davis struggled most with a .190 average with 1 homerun and only 3 rbis. The best part is Cooper who batted .382 with 6 homeruns. Pitching wise, Towers wasn't the ace he was thought to be with a 6.94 ERA and Valentin also struggled with a 5.94 ERA. Clemente was 4 for 4 in saves but only pitched 6 innings and a below average 4.50 ERA. Petit was supposed to be the fire balling set-up man but has a 5.98 ERA. This team is struggling and they make some moves it comes to it later in the year.

Breaking News- Deserts lose Davis for 103 Days
The Deserts have lost there gold glove quality in Josh Davis til mid September. Today, May 19, crashed into the wall making a catch in foul ground, he had to leave the game and is on the shelf for 103 days with a torn ACL(my personal most days from injury). He finally heated up in may and now has 4 may honeruns and raised his average from .190 to .285. A replacement is not now known

Nominies:

Hayes(AAA) D, E, F, C, B(Gold glover) 35 years old
Cooper(DH)
Sanchez(Bench) D, B, E, E, C

I need help with trades, I'm not gonna go get an Albert Pujols but I need a good firstbaseman or any other good hitter but I'd like a 1B so that Cooper doesn't play 1st
Suggestions will be needed and Ive never had an injury like this

I'm gonna stay with Hayes for now but I'd like a better offensive force

Any opinions on trades for a good hitter that won't make me give up a whole lot?

Deserts continue to struggle for unknown reasons

Another rough month for the Deserts as they had a 13-14 May to drop a mediocre 28-27 but they are only 2 behind in the division. Their biggest lost was first baseman Josh Davis who was having a great May but is now on the shelf til September. Hayes has done a good job defensivly but has struggled offensivly for a team that has struggled overall and were once thought to win 100+ games this season. This month begins interleague play starting with the Cubs @ GoldenApple's stadium. The June draft is also held this month and this could be a big month for this team, they will also continue to look for a good hitter. Stats as of June 1 will be posted up soon here and the beggining of all-star voting begins tommorow on June 2

3B- Doug Carrol | 5 HR | 20 RBI | .277 AVG
SS- Billy Hawk | 4 HR | 22 RBI | .300 AVG
DH- Barry Cooper | 12 HR | 51 RBI | .339 AVG
LF- Cory Smith | 10 HR | 38 RBI | .237 AVG
CF- Nick Chavez | 5 HR | 22 RBIS | .241 AVG
C- Jason House | 6 HR | 19 RBIS | .239 AVG
2B- Jeff Gonzalez | 5 HR | 28 RBIS | .299 AVG
RF- Susumu Ikari | 7 HR | 13 RBIS | .219 AVG
1B- Joel Hayes | (27 AB) | 0 HR, 1 RBI, .277 AVG)

SP- Kerry Blanco | 2-5 | 3.92 ERA
SP- Jess Towers | 3-3 | 4.68 ERA
SP- Lance Nixon | 3-5 | 5.68 ERA
SP- Chris Valentin | 5-3 | 3.50 ERA
SP- Raul Massett | 4-4 | 5.84 ERA

RP- Masi Darvish | 1.20 ERA
RP- Justin Thompson | 2.92 ERA
RP- Mike Bowie | 4.08 ERA
RP- Brian Williamson | 3.38
RP- Gregor Petit | 3.90
RP- Lance Niekro | 2.86

Mailbag: For anyone that has questions about this log, they can PM me and I'll put the questions up on July 5 in this game and I'll answer the questions. The questions could be: how do you think they'll do? or: do you think there will be any big pickups? And if you do PM me about a question, then your name could end up on the July 5th mailbag :D
