Joba pitched really really well after the 1st inning where he gave up 5 hits in a row. Slow Starter or did he not get warmed up enough. I don't think he is warmed up enough as the next 5 2/3 innings, he striked out 12. His last 8 outs were strikeouts, but he did get lucky on a lot of counts. His slider is good and his fastball sits at 94 mph, though he could clearly throw way harder. However, he needs to be more mature and needs to lower his pitch count. Alot that contributed to it was the 1st inning. I think he should go back to the Bullpen. With the qualities of the starter, he could elevate his fastball to 96-98 mph if he comes in for relieve. Joba should only go back to the bullpen, if Wang finds his form again and if Phil Hughes works more on his control.

He needs to go back to the pen, they have no bridge to Rivera and their best bridge is on the DL while Damaso Marte is doing terrible. They have a few minor leaugers that they could give a try and some in the pen that could start liek Aceves

He needs to return to the pen. They should be grooming him as their future closer.

When you have a dominant hurler like him with ace-like stuff, you want to groom him to be a starter. Putting Joba in the pen would be a stupid move unless he proves he can't handle being a starter (see: Wood, Kerry).

So far Joba has seemed to do better in relief. Which is why I would want him as a closer.

Exactly. I love him as a starter, even if he is killing the pen.

It's on the DL, and it's Brian Bruney, who has been simplly terrific. Thank god, he'll be off soon. I don't know how this happened, it went from a top 5 bullpens in the game to this. It set a record for least blown games in a season at 3 (for the whole bullpen). Now it's blown 2, maybe 3 already.

They showed a statistic i believe it was ERA of pitchers from Joba's first start time to now. He was number 5 i think behind Santana, Sabathia, Oswalt, and another pitcher. These guys are all true aces and in his short time as a starter Joba has shown dominance its just the pitch count

Sixth :D . In all fairness, it doesn't count as much as he hasn't had nearly as many starts, but it's still pretty cool. I think it included Santana, Peavy, Sabathia, Webb, and one other.
