Thank you Wyl and J-Gao. I now know where to go from here. Thanks for your help on what I should give Figueroa.

8) :D :) :P

Also, seeing as I can't make good success characters. I;m hoping someone could help me out. I want to make Raul Casanova for the Mets.
He is a catcher who switch hits and throws right.
I'm thinking about the following stats:
Power- around 155
Contact- 9
Run Speed- 8
Error Resistance- 12
Fielding- 13
Arm Strength- 13

As for the blue abilities:
Good Block
Good Pinch Hitter
Great Catcher
Spray Hitter

And the green abilities:
Patient Hitter

I would like his stats to be around or exactly what I suggested. If someone who wants to make him wants to add a few more abilities that's ok. But keep in mind, this is no star player I want. Please don't over do it. Thanks!

I have another quick question. In Success mode, how do you get the Breaking Ball Pitcher and Good Pace abilities? Thanks! :D

Im tired of making guys, Im working on Barry Bonds right now and tried to get the gambling ring in the first year Nov. but dont seem to get it when cleaning the room. So ill be done with him then ill be doing Carney Lansford 3b from the A's and then Kevin Mitchael from the Giants. Here are the last 2 success players I've made.

Mark McGwire 1b

At the Ability Boost screen, for pitchers, you'll usually see things like Top speed, control, stamina, etc. If you hold the C button, then move left or right, you'll be able to upgrade hitting stats, or green abilities. The green abilities usually come in pairs, so if you have one, you have the other.

They are:
Slugger/Slap Hitter
Aggrssv Htr/Patient Htr
Breaking Ball P/Power P
Good Pace
Aggrssv Stl/Cautious Stl
Aggrssv Run/Cautious Run
Aggrssv Fld

I think that's all of them

metsandsantana, I'm pushing back on you because I think you are selling yourself short on not being able to make Casanova. As you pointed out, those aren't very high stats, and you should be able to easily get them by doing nothing more than a basic amount of save/reloading.

Look over the strategy guides on this site to get an idea of how to structure your game. Here's a very quick barebones guide -

1. Look at the Wiki page for starting stats (http://www.glenridgeposse.com/mlbpp/wiki/index.php?title=Starting_Stats. Reload until you get "Standard Plus" or better.
2. Once you confirm you've got Standard Plus or better starting stats and no show stopper negative ability (like Lone Wolf), SAVE and then reload.
3. Study 3 times, SAVE and reload.
4. Your vitality meter will be in the yellow, so studying a 4th time will be hit or miss as to whether you fall asleep or are successful. Try it, and if you fail 4-5 times in a row (quit without saving and reload after a failed attempt), use a Powerin from your Items page and then study the 4th time. It will be successful. This should get you Bookworm level 1. SAVE and reload.
5. It should now be December. Rest, save and reload.
6. Job command should have opened up. Work, and play a Challenge if you've got one. Otherwise a Yes or a Marvin will do. SAVE and reload.
7. Work again. If you've got a Challenge or Marvin card in your hand, reload until you get the boss to talk to you. Challenge for a pay raise (quit/reload if fail), Marvin for an extra $40. SAVE/reload
8. Use a Powerin and work again. Should be around the week that the coach shows up. SAVE/reload (detect a theme?)
9. Rest, SAVE/reload
10. Now you'll practice every week. If you want to boost PWR first, do strength training. Otherwise choose the practice that gives you points in the category you want to boost. SAVE/reload after every successful practice, quit without saving/reload if you get injured.
11. When Bison shows up, play a No or a Marvin. At this point, save/reload BEFORE going into the Shop. The shop inventory is loaded randomly the first time you enter it, and then the inventory stays fixed until the next month. You need to reload until the Shop has both the Recovery Necklace and the Mind Training Necklace. Buy both, then buy a Powerin or two to cover you from any random events that drain vitality, then buy around 6 gambling tickets. SAVE/reload.

At this point you'll just practice every week until you get added to the roster. If you're doing strength training, resting after every 5 practices will net you 99 strength points from hyper recovery. Quit/reload if you get injured along the way. After you get added to the roster, if you've gotten Annie's first event go ahead and study and get her followup, study again to get her phone number. Don't do that before getting added to the roster though. If you haven't gotten Annie's event, you can rest and work.

If you follow the above, you'll be well on your way. After that the general principle is to save/reload after good events and quit/reload after bad events :)

Also remember, Challenge cards are the most valuable, with NO cards being the worst, in general.

There are a few set stages in the early game, where you will always encounter a fate decision, I suggest reloading at these until you get a Challenge card. But for the first few months, always have a No/Marvin card. The reasoning behind this is that they aren't random, so you know you'll get the event again if you don't save. It's the best way to control your fate, as even the Shuffle Whistle may fail you.

The events are:

Becky's Lipstick (anything works - doesn't matter if she doesn't like you, she'll like/dislike you from other key events anyway)

First Job (use a Challenge card here, and reload for another to replace it - this won't work on subsequent boss encounters, as they are random)

Dad's Glove (Dad will ask to throw out glove, No/Marvin card is the preferable card of use, and reload until a C(hallenge) card replaces it)

Pi Pi Pi invitation (for Casanova, I suggest using No/Marvin card here, and reload for a C card, if you really want to meet Sarah - she may give you one of the abilities - use one of the other 2 cards - but I wouldn't recommend it, as this is a good time to burn a bad card)

Bison's First Encounter (you definitely want to use a No/Marvin card here, and reload for a Challenge, not only do you burn a negative card, but Yes/Challenge will have you encounter Willy, which is generally frowned upon)

Dad's Job Aid (Dad asks you to help with job, Marvin card works best, Yes also does, reload for Challenge)

Dates also work as well, as they are fairly set in stone, although sometimes you'll hope to acquire an ability from them, so you may have to forgo hoping for a good card.

Wyl-
You're right. Just because my characters in the past have been bad doesn't mean that all my charcters will be bad. I'm confident in thinking that I can make Casanova and FIgueroa. Thanks for your help. You too J-Gao

i have to say that you are totally wrong with both of the dad training events. ive gone in-depth on this subject and have found with multiple characters that playing challenge on the first meeting and yes on the second are the best ways to go.

In terms of getting Dad's training to trigger, you're right. I was saying in terms of controlling your fate cards, for future events. On dates, Dr. Goodjob, and most other RE's Yes and Challenge cards work the best. Thus, that makes Marvin and No cards the worst. For Dad's Glove, I refrained from using Challenge because of the $70 fine, and chose the N and M cards because they still work. With the Job, Marvin keeps him in a good mood, while also burning a bad card.

Besides, I don't think he want Dad's training for Raul Casanova and Nelson Figueroa, they're not exactly worthy of a custom pitch or whatever.

Wyl is right, by looking at the stats you want this could be done really fast. But if you want, I can do this in no time. Not really a challenge, but could be fun. How does he look like and what other info do you have on him, like age date of birth, so on so on.

My first A stamina starter:

Jorge Reyes - modeled after the College World Series MVP from OSU
Solid pitcher - C control, 96 mph
Decent fielder
3 level 4 pitches
9 abilities
All personal information accurate - team is Mariners because they are close in location to his college

BARRY BONDS

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j260/ ... Bonds1.jpg

I had fun making him. I thought he would of toke longer to make but I guess it seems that Im getting better and faster on making success players. Next is Vida Blue SP from the 1973 oakland a's ws champions.

Outstanding.

Only complaints:
Power seems a little low.
I think he deserves the Intimidator ability.
Trash Talk - even though for catchers, c'mon.
Gd Morale!!! jk. More like Poor Morale.

I started working on Hank Aaron this evening. I got great starting stats and Pr Sense, but decided to roll with it and see what happens. I just Challenged to get team captain in year 2, and I'm just up to Mark and Rex joining the team. But I've already got C PWR, D CON, 3 TRJ, C RUN SPD, D ARM, E FLD, and F E RES. So he's coming along nicely.
