Tigers and Falcons ALDS preview
This series promises to be a pitching series with the Tigers favored to win with their stacked offense. Both finished first in their division in ERA, but the difference is singifigant as the Tigers have a 4.46 team ERA, while the Falcons have a 3.86 ERA. The Falcons have a shot with Roy Halladay, Roy Oswalt and young sensation Edison Volquez to begin the series, but they need to score runs as they only had 792 while the Tigers nearly had 1000 with 931 runs. The Tigers order was amzing, especially after trading Mark Buehrle for Alex Rodruiguez straight up. We all know the season that A-Rod had but Chipper Jone's was almost as good. He had a .338 average with 38 homers and 112 rbis, together that makes an amazing 3-4 combo. The order will go down after that. Markakis had 27 homeruns but had only a .255 average, Butler and Bourn combined for 12 homers and 88 Rbis with an average around .270. Butler had 10 of those homeruns. The Tigers second baseman Theriot batted over .300 along with Renteria, and Johjima had 23 homeruns which makes most of their order solid from the 3-4 batters.
As for the pitching, the Falcons will have the more dominant pitching, for starters and up in the bullpen. They will need to rely on Mussina, Bonderman and Oliver Perez at the beggining of the rotation but none can compare to Halladay, Oswalt and Volquez. They are solid at the back end with Betancourt, Odalis Perez and the AL saves leader in K-Rod
This will be a great series none the less

The key in the series is how your pitchers perform. If they can shut down A-Rod and chipper jones, I say the Falcons would win. However, they have to score early if not they have to face the likes of K-Rod and company.

Mussina is the only real threat for me in the rotation, he had a 3.35 ERA

thanks, I didn't get to use the 2008 ALDS photo for the Eagles cause they didn't make the playoffs in '08 but I get to use it now cause I'm good :lol:
