just played against my older brother yesterday (4 times)
we each won twice.

one of the plays:
a sweep to the right (toss to right side), 1st play of the game from scrimmage.
i was rams, he was 49ers (our favorite teams)
i ran 87 yards for a touchdown.
i ended up winning by 21, two INT returns for TDs.

Well, short answer, no. I know you have a lot to deal with. Just look at me, a guy with nothing good to do who doesn't have a life barely has time balancing 2008 and 2007. If you really dedicate the time, you can get them down. If it tries to mention "pick-up and play controls" don't even listen at all.

always thought the controls for madden were insane with a joystick...wondered how that translated into wiimote controls.

anyone try a basketball game?

Um, my friend likes NBA Live 2008 for the Wii, but gamespot.com does not. At all.

I didn't buy 09 because unfortunately they didn't put the cool new AI stuff into the Wii version that they did for the PS3 and 360. The Wii version got little more than a roster update.

I have Madden 08 and single player at least is very playable. The motion controls work well once you get them down. I've heard people complain about a glitch where your QB passes immediately after taking the snap (like throwing a hot read) even though you didn't intend to. I've had that happen to me, but I eventually figured out that it only happened when I was being lazy with my Wiimote motions, like pulling back to snap the ball but not pulling all the way up to where the Wiimote is completely vertical. So I think what actually happened is that the Wiimote was pointed kind of in between vertical and horizontal, and the game interpreted it as you trying to pass. I've never had any control "glitches" when I'm making sharp/deliberate motions.

The reason I was really disappointed that 09 for the Wii didn't have the new AI features is that with 08 I find the difficulty jumps too great. I find 'All Pro' too easy and 'All Madden' too hard. It'd be nice to have something more in the middle of those two. But the game is smooth and plays well.

I forgot to mention, there *is* one thing about Madden 08 I don't like that I believe is still the case in 09 - you can't create your own players or team. Well, there is a career mode where you create a player and then get drafted and you play that player through his career, but that's different from being able to create your own team or make lots of different players to have in the league like Power Pros (or pretty much any other sports game).

The franchise mode is pretty strong for single player. I think it only runs 10 years, but I'm only in season 4 (2012) on mine (like Power Pros, I play every game rather than simming). I haven't played it much this year though to be honest, I've been more interested in going back through several PC RPG games the last few months rather than playing on the Wii. I've also been spending more of my free time playing guitar and working on recording some songs rather than playing video games. But anyway, the Madden franchise mode gives you a good amount of things to do. You're the all in one owner/GM/coach and of course can control the players during the games or sim if you want. As owner you get to decide on things like prices on tickets, concessions, parking, and souvenirs, and what (if any) stadium upgrades you want to do in the off-seasons, and how much to spend on various types of advertising/marketing, etc. You're also the GM that builds the roster through the draft, trades, and free agency. And as coach you have the flexibility to design the playbook and customize various aspects of how your team plays - like aggressive vs. conservative on offense/defense, pass/run ratios, etc etc. That's more relevant to simming games than if you're playing them. But even with simming you can options just call the plays and let the CPU sim the results if you don't want to actually control the players yourself. Good stuff.

Or playbooks, which turned me away from buying the game. I think the '07 version for the GC is just fine for me, because I don't care about improved graphics. I can do a roster update manually, so it's fine by me. I've already added everything I want into the version, my playbooks and teams are fine, so I'm perfectly fine. For lazy people, go drop $50 on the newest version. For now, I'm fine.

I agree, but year after year they barely improve Franchise mode, I love the mode and it's great, I am in season 5 and I love the way the off-season works with Free Agents and UFA and all the other good stuff.

I'd love to continue on babling about this, so I might PM you Wyl on more of this, but I have to go out to dinner with family, or if you are on, you can PM me.

Neve been big on Madden, last one I ever bought was the one with McNab on the cover. Would like to get a football game for me but how does the wiimote work compared to playing with a joystick like the ones you use for x-box or playstation? With PS you have 4 side buttons, tri, circle, square, x, plus the analog...wii you have a,b,z,c, (1, 2 but those would be kinda hard to hit in game), it's about half the buttons so how does the wiimote handle it?

You hold down either one of the d-pad buttons or A (which is usually the fullback or 5th receiver.) and make a throwing motion. Harder for a bullet, softer for a lob. Takes a bit of getting used to.
