So here are few general questions about the 2009 season,

1.Can the Cubs end the curse at 101?
2.Will the Yankees be able to "buy" a World Series?
3.Can the Phillies repeat?
4.Who will be this years Rays, and will the Rays return to the postseason?
5.Will the Pirates have a winning record in 2009?
6.Who will be the Barry Zito of next year. (big contract, no results)

My answers
1. If they don't fall apart in the playoffs, if they make them.
2. I hope not
3. Maybe, but most likely no
4. Royals
5. Not enough talent yet, so no.
6. C.C. or K-Rod

1. I doubt it because they will be the same team as last year and did not end up getting Peavy

2. Come on thats a really stupid question. yes the Yankees are going crazy with money but it still takes skill and passion to win look at the Yankees last year as well as the Rays of last year. So overall no you cannot buy a world series no matter how much you spend.

3. I doubt they will repeat but they will do very well especially since they got Ibanez

4. This years Rays i believe would be the Giants or Athletics they have made very smart trades thus far

5. No way the team has way too many problems to be fixed in just a year unless something big happens i really doubt it

6. A.J. Burnett i think because he really only does good on contract renewal years and his injuries will most likely get him killed in NY

1. Maybe, we will have to see.
2. Now matter how good you are, you need passion, not just money. no
3. the phills have a good shot. With Ibanez, (when we) re-sign Moyer, and maybe getting another veteran arm in the pen, we have a good shot.
4. Probably the Royals. And the rays was a one-time deal, they won't be back (think 07 rockies)
5. Nah, why start now But seriously, maybe soon, but not this year.
6. I would love for it to be The Bat, just for kicks, but probably K-rod or CC. Don't let it be Ibanez.

1. No, I think it's too early to tell, but I just don't believe in them
2. No. A-Rod's playoff chokes are too much to allow them to.
3. No, they don't have quite enough talent this year to do it again.
4. The Rays will return to the postseason, and I don't think that there will be many surprises. Although the Royals do have a shot.
5. I say 78-84 or something like that, but not quite.
6. I can't say right now, there are still some people yet to make their move to a team. We don't know this early.

1. Can they? Definetely. They have a good team. Will they? Probably not but let's hope so. Part of me cheers for them anyway because these guys have suffered long enough. I thought 86 years was bad but geez.

3. I don't see why not. They have one of the strongest teams around and are definite contenders.
4. I don't think there will be another Rays per se but in terms of a team improving the most on their previous year then i'm backing the Royals and Mariners. I doubt either will win their division and make it to the world series though. I don't think the Rays will suffer from quite the same WS hangover the Rockies did but if they do make it I think it'd be through the wildcard.
5. Sorry guys. I don't think so.
6. Burnett and hopefully C.C too.

Uh, they still have plenty of talent. Hamills, Utley, Rollins, Victorino, Lidge, the new FA Ibanez, and a skilled player's manager in Charlie Manuel. they have pelnty of talent

Yeah they only lost Moyer and Burrell

They replaced Burrell with a even better outfielder and i hear they are going to vs the Yankees for Derek Lowe which would be much better then Moyer.

It is immensly hard to repeat, regardless of your talent. Yes, the Phillies are very good, but the season always has some unpredictable variables, and I don't think that they'll go the Phillies' way.

And going against the Yankees could take a big hit, since the Yankees are spending as much money as the government these days.

they need Moyer more as a mentor than a starting pitcher. Between Hamills, Kendrick, and JA Happ, the rotation will greatly benefit regardless of whether or not Moyer is an actual part of it.

1) Dunno, hard to tell. YOu'll have to see who they play in the playoffs.
2) No duh? Best rotation and excellent batting. A-Rod is not a one man show so Yanks dont have to depend only on him for runs.
3) Mabye. I think Mets will be in WS since they have a better bullpen now.
4) Giants. Lincecum, Zito, Randy Johson (Mabye), Cain. Decent rotation, but offense needs to be improved.
5) Unlikely, traded away Bay and Nady, didnt do much in the off-season. 70-92
6) I seriously have no idea. Most likely candidate, though i hate to say it, but i guess its A.J. Burnett.

1. Probably not but what the hey, I'm rooting because they're not in East NL division
2. They can, but I doubt that we will ever watch the MLB ever again
3. I say they can, but no if the Mets can get better Rotation
4. Can't say, but they can make the division

2) they will give it their best try to "buy" it
3) i'll say no, i don't follow the phillies but it's to hard to repeat, maybe their division but not the title
4) Rays to the post would have to be as wildcard, if boston doesn't do anything then yes they can take 2cd place. How about the Tigers to make a run, they done it in the past.
5) they have been losing for years so what is one more year?
6) Being a Jays fan I would say AJ. He will be injuryed no doubt but I can also see CC imploding with the massive contract.

1: No way. They have about as good of a chance of winning the World Series as the Bucs do.
2: I sure hope not. I think they will make the playoffs, but will ultimately lose in the first round.
3: I don't think so. The Mets are going to overpower them in the regular season with their new pitching staff, and...I just don't like the Phillies.
4: I'm going to contradict myself with this next one. The Pirates have the best chance of being the Rays this next year, but that's not saying much. The Rays will make the postseason next year.
5: It depends on if the pitching staff and the batters can pull it together at the same time. Last season, the Bucs were hitting really well the first half, but that collapsed at the same time that the pitching started to, well, actually pitch like a Major League team.
6: A.J. Burnett. I'm predicting 8-10 with a 5 to 6 ERA.

Yeah, I think that Royals will be over .500 look at all the players they are signing.
