Posting:

* Individual players should be in their own thread, with the full name of the player and position(s) in the title. Don't add superlatives or any other shout outs to it... we will see your guys...
* If you post a team or a set of players, add players by editing your starting post so they're all in the same post. A bump to announce the edit is appropriate.
* Posting images are fine, provided they are small in dimension and data. 800x600 and ~50Kb should be the biggest you can post inline (using the [IMG] tag), anything larger, post a link or a clickable thumbnail instead.
* If you have wiki rights, add your player(s) and team(s) there as well!

For the majority of my entries, players will be announced through the fake Newspaper (I have to find a way to format this better! Until then, it won't look much like a newspaper, sorry. I can't even change the font, so right now theirs not much I can do.

The Grim Reaper
Fresh from Mexico, Lucifer Shaitain (the rich and very succesful owner of the Las Vegas Devils and the Bordello Cassino) has announced the first player of his expansion team. Known addoringly by fans as Nino Ruth, The Big M and most prominently Grim Reaper, Mexican Superstar Manuel or Manny Calavera has been signed by the Devils. At the young age of 21, Manny is already known as the best player in the Mexican League and many believe he has the potential to be the best player Mexico has ever seen. Countless Major League teams have tried to sign him after his record 80 home-run season in Mexico, but all fell short as "The Grim Reaper" constantly stated he had no interest in leaving Mexico. However, somehow Lucifer Shaitain had convinced him to leave his team and join the Devils. Lucifer has told us that he had had long talks with the Reaper and convinced him not by the money but the fact that he would be the cornerstone and leader in the building of a new team. He was promised the role of captain of the team and recieved a free 1 million dollar house on his signing. His 12 million dollar contract for the next 5 years if the biggest in Major League history for any rookie. Is he over-stated and will he be a flop at the big league level? Perhaps, but hitting 80 home-runs, gathering 250 RBIs and hitting .520 is a pretty remarkable feat even at a league at the level of single A.
When asked about other players, Lucifer did not state any other possible candidates but he did state that he had a new system and training strategy that could make any of his players a super-star. Despite the fact that it is an expansion team, the Las Vegas Devils and specifically Lucifer Shaitain appear to have a strong commitment to winning. Unlike most expansion teams, they appear that they can contend right out of the gate and really challenge the Angels. While the experts might see it as very unlikely, when a team believes that they can win each game, well they do a hell lot better then teams that go in expecting to lose.

For more information about Grim Reaper, go to page C17. This includes interviews with previous teammates, his career so far, and a MLB scouting report that has been previously hidden.

C17 will be written very soon, I just need to get more pictures for Grim Reaper.

Grim Reaper Part 2
(See A-2 for the beginning of this article)
The "Grim Reaper" has already established himself as the youngest super-star in Mexican Baseball History. Already considered an easy hall-of-famer for Mexico, The Grim Reaper has demonstrated such grace and skill in every aspect. Manuel Calavera was a hard working man. Growing up in utter poverty and near starvation, Manuel Calavera wanted a new life, one where he and his family didn't have to worry if the old man whose stoop they lived on would chase them off again, a life where a piece of bread wasn't a luxury. Like most poor, strong young men, Grim Reaper tried sports. Even from the age of 5, Manny was committed to playing baseball and making a better life for himself. Training for a self-imposed 5 hours a day, Calavera had developed an incredible work-ethic, one that he would follow until the age of 8 where he committed himself to 6 hours a day. By the time he was in High School, Manuel Calavera was a very strong, muscular young man with a bright future in sports. Already he was heavily scouted. At the age of 16, he had signed a deal with the "Los Esqueletos" in which he would miss the first two months of the season for school and play the rest of the year. Despite not even playing the full year, he got rookie of the year.By the age of 18, Manuel was an all-star and an incredible player, receiving his first golden glove and silver slugger . At 19 he won his first MVP and triple crown. By 20 he was considered the best player Mexico had ever seen, batting 520, hitting 80 home runs, and getting 250 RBIs, all records.

Two New Teams for the West? Los Angelas might be getting some competition.
Image
The Icon for the future Las Vegas Devils

Yesterday, Baseball Commisoner Bowie Kuhn announced that the AL had finally given in and had allowed two teams to join the AL West. The first team, based in Las Vegas, is owned by multi-billionare and world-famous casino owner Lucifer Shatain. Known as the Las Vegas devils, Lucifer's Shatain's team will reside in Las Vegas own Bordero Cassino, which is not only the casino with the largest amount of property in the U.S. but is also widely regarded as the most successful cassino in the world. The stadium will replace two of the less prominent golf-courses in the Casino and will be considered compleatly seperate from anything else in the Cassino, an effort to keep it "Family Friendly" Lucifer Shatain said. The AL West is generally considered one of the easiast divisions. Lucifer has invested 300 million dollars into his stadium, plans of which have just been released. Known as Panapaka Park, this state-of-the-art stadium has its own unique look and style. The Stadium is slugger's worse nightmare with what is by far the largest out field in the game and the furthest right wall. Capable of holding 55,000, Panpaka Park will be one of the largest stadiums in the Major Leagues. Obviously, Lucifer Shatain is banking on his team being successful as most new expansion teams are incapable of drawing even 20,000 a night. When asked about his amibitious stadium, Lucifer said, "I know it seems a long shot, but I believe we have chance at the AL West. With the exception of the Angels, the other three teams are relatively weak and if the Angels face any problems or suffer any major injuries, you never know. We're already in negotians with several players from other countries and we've scouted and found quite a few players that are generally under the radar of most other teams. I'm not saying we're going to set the league on fire and take first place right out of the gate, but we might have an outside chance at the wild card." Information about the second team has currently not been released, but there appears to be some interest in a team for Cooperstown. It appears that negotions have not been finalized and no details have been yet determined. As strange as it would be for a New York team to be in the West, the AL League will only submit to allowing 2 more teams in the West and no where else.

What?!?!?! the Rangers are a good team, just need pitching.

Haha, there still really not that good of a team, their around average, arguably above and below. Pitching is the most important part of a successful team. The Mariners have lost their window, and the Angels are aging and there are too man free-agents for them to keep them all. The Angels success in my mind will disappeer within 3 years. The Rangers are more likely I believe to succeed in the future, but thats assuming they can get a few good pitchers out there. They probably have one of the 5 best offenses (I'm not talking about this year, I'm talking about ability. That's why I include the Yankees in there as well), but they need at least average pitching to be a very good team. Mariners could pull it all together as they have some of the assets, but its unlikely. Oakland As are an average team but they have a great staff there and its not too out there that they could put things together. Right now though, the AL West is the second easiast division to win, the NL west being first.
So, yes they are a bad team, once you take 19 wins away from them .
How was it so far by the way? When you put so much work into something, it's impossible to not ask that type of question all the time.
