its just s rational to say that he will be perfectly healthy the rest of his career and play another 10 years, and will play incredibly well in those years. Only provable facts matter.

I don't know what your getting at. It is not irrational to say that he will very likely play 10 more years and will very likely not have a career ending injury with modern medical science. Season ending is highly unlikely but possible, but still this has nothing to do with who is the better third baseman. A-Rod's numbers are allready better and he will have a 99.9999% of being way better. If he isn't, then one would say he would have without doubt been the best third-baseman numbers if he had played longer and therefore is the best third-baseman in ability.

People like to use the injury arguement against A-Rod a lot because they hate him. It's possible that he could get injured, but this arguement is used wayyyy to much against A-Rod. I'm not a fan of Rodriguez, nor do I disklike him but I just hate seeing so many people trying to use this arguement because they don't like him(most likely because he plays for they Yankees and he makes so much money).

Its lonely at the top, when your the best, life is the hardest. True in politics, in terms of celebrities (who I don't understsand why anyone cares about them), and sports. It just seems like such a terrible argument because you could use that for every single player. It makes no sense. By the way Duke, you've heard this before? I've never heard an argument like that.
Anyway, even though I think I have proven based on statistics that he is the best (though I might have misunderstood some important things about Schmidt), everyone is against having him so we don't need to. I still think he will end up being one of the 5 best hitters to ever play the game (I always put Gherig and Ruth at the top because no one was able to do what they did at the time).

i still say a-rod is better than schmidt.

A-rod is doing better in 16 years than schmidt did in 18 years (should check on accuracy of the years)

a-rod still has career in front of him, and will still be a great player for awhile.

and i meant that its as rational as saying he will not even have a minor injury and will have career years for the rest of his career. the complete opposite of the injury argument(or lack thereof)

That makes more sense. I wasn't sure if you were arguing for Griffey (which I think the injury argument here is leginimite) or against A-Rod. I think A-Rod needs like 30/35 homeruns a year to beat Bonds record till his contract is up. That he can easily do, on average.

Yes, I've seen it used at plenty of message boards(I used to visit a lot then just narrowed it down to this and another one). It's crazy how many Yankee/Arod haters there are that are very narrow minded about some of this stuff.

One thing about Arod vs. Schmidt is their career OPS+ are within a point of each other.

That's true, but I don't know much about the Big Hurt. My knowledge about baseball is very scattered and based on a few eras. That's why before I say anything that doesn't fall in my areas of expertice, I base it on statistics. By the way, Rays are leading 4-3!

5-4 Rays, Pedroia just homered. Who is the backup first baseman? I'm voting for Bagwell or Foxx.

Edit:5-5 Youk homered

Unless you can think of someone better(which is doubtful) I don't think there's a contest here.
