I think we should make it on the Wii since it is the main console. I can make some pretty good players although I'm not as good as these guys. With a lot of reloading, I'll take a hack at a few of them. The players will obviously need to have every specific statistic we state though and if you try and can't get it, then its ok. I'd be interested in doing Dimaggio, Ty Cobb, Yogi, possibly Lou (if I can) and a starting pitcher. Whoever does Ruth needs a genious as this guy might be impossible. That is, if we want him to be able to pitch as well as hit. He could play two positions, pitching and right fielder. He could be an emergncy starter, not that you need it with this team.
So, I just want to make sure every agrees on a few positions and then maybe someone can start on them.
1B Lou Gherig
Catcher: Yogi Berra and Johnny Bench
Right Field: Babe Ruth
Closer: Rivera (he is always underated in the game. It will be very hard to play this guy with only 1 pitch. The game doesn't show the effectiveness of it)

and I'm not sure if we agree on this yet, but
3B: A-Rod and Smidt

DON"T MAKE ANY OF THESE GUYS yet, we need to have their specfic abilities determined. If we agree unaminously on anyone, I will put them on the front page. I might make a vote soon about the center field starter and you can all vote on which will be the starter. All three will be tied.
So for every post you make, just tell me if you agree/disagree on each of these. I want a page of unanimous agreement before I put them up (this isn't necesary for everyone, but for the first few guys I'll do this).

I have to agree with some of the posters here. I don't think you can make a Hall-Of-Famers Expansion Team with players currently playing the game. I agree A-Rod is great and so is Rivera and will be eventual hall-of-famers, but right now they are not. Maybe if you want them as part of the team, then we should rename the title, greatest of all time.

I guess here is the thing though, so forget what I just said. It really doesn't matter. If we make enough players, then everyone can have who they want on the team and have them start. The key would be agreeing on what their stats should be, and that will probably be just as hard.

If not worse. Rivera I think needs to be done because he is so under-rated in the game but maybe not A-Rod. I might just make one for myself, it doesn't hurt to post him though.
You've shown again and again that your great at success mode, would you be willing to help us. If so, any guess your particularily interested in? And by the way, I offered this a while a go in another thread and I know this is off topic, but do you want me to make a page on the wiki for your expansion team? (hey, doesn't hurt to kiss up before asking a favor haha)

I'll be happy to create some players, except I haven't done a Patty arc yet to get intimidator for a hitter, so i will need to practice that. Also, someone would just need to define the players really well and what they look like. It is a lot easier to have a small range when trying to create a player versus low C or High B. These are open to interpretation, and make it more difficult to get it like someone wants.

Also, don't worry about creating a page for my team. I would actually enjoy doing that myself.

I would be willing to create up to 5 players at first. Just assign the players, define them down to the number of hairs they have, and I will make them.

Good Luck! Probably will take over a month or so to create all the players!

Was Bob Gibson mentioned for one of the pitchers?

Probably will take over 3 months if you ask me haha. No, but that's a good one. He may not be one of the best all time but he definetly had the best year (with a little help with the mound).
Intimidator wouldn't be used for the majority of the players (because we have to have the best players be better then others on the team). Guys like Ruth (if possible) and Gherig would but possibly not any other hitters. Williams, Dimaggio and Ty Cobb could make an argument too. Ty Cobb more so because of his personality, if he was a catcher he would have trash talk.
I will go give you the link to your new page but I won't add anything to it. I can see why you would want to make your own.
Edit: Here it is mate.

Rose would get intimidator, he might be the only guy to railroad a catcher and end his career . . . in the all-star game

Why would Rose get Initimidator? Imtimidator has only to do with your hitting prowess. Meaning if the guy gives a meat pitch, then you will definitely hit it out of the park. I don't think Rose was this kind of guy. Now, Babe Ruth, yes, definitely.

He'd actually be a fun guy to pitch with in this game. Wikipedia says he threw a sharp slider and a big looping curve in addition to his awesome fastball but I kind of disagree based on this video from the '67 World Series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixTNIFlB ... fficial&cl

Looks he throws a sharp slider and then the curve isn't what I'd call loopy, it's more of a really nasty power slurve. Pure domination.

I was reading an article a long time a go about how Babe Ruth would have hit 110 or something along those lines the year he hit 60 under todays rules. So many of those hit the foul pole (ground rule doubles back then) or went out of the park fair but curved around the foul pole (called foul then) that he didn't get nearly as many. Then, he would easily have had the most of homeruns in baseball history. He is the only guy I believe we can give maxed power. He should probably have around b/b- contact. Maxed contact should only go to Ty Cobb and maybe Pete Rose.
By the way mate, I appreciate your unbiased attitued towards the Yankee players haha. It's very impressive and rare in Yankee and Red Sox fans.

So the plan is to make the "stats" for every player on the team, and then go from there.

To settle the fastest player dispute from the first three pages. Willy Taveras.

I agree that the teams should be AL and NL because this thread would be 50 pages long with all the arguing between Yogi vs Bench etc.

Also are we only doing modern era players? Or will we go back further.

Yes but that would take way to long to make and the thread would be 20 pages longer with both AL and NL(realistically, I think it will get around there with one of the two leaguesonce we determine stats and have that majority of players). I believe we should defiently make both as I said before, not just one. I also think that Hendrickson should be on the bench as a pinch runner and he would be the fastest.

The only two players we can be certain are going to be in there (Yogi AND Bench are incredibly likely too) are Lou Gherig and Babe Ruth, so lets start determining there stats.
Power is obviously maxed with by far the highest slugging average at .846.
Contact should be A (13/14) because he had the 10th highest batting average of all time at .342. You could make an argument that it is A (14) but A maxed should be saved for a guy like Ty Cobb.
He should have B+ speed as he has stolen home 10 times.
Fielding is very hard because there is so little documented about his fielding besides that of the end of his career. At the end he was terrible and overweight in fielding, but there is a general consensus that he was quite the strong fielder (but most likely not quite a Golden Glover, they didn't exist back then). So, I'd be generous and give him all B- for arm strength, fielding, and error resistance.
He should have 4 trajectory.
Edit: After doing a lot of digging, I found that his fielding percentage at right field was a simply tremendous .996! That changes everything! He should have A (14) fielding and A maxed Error Resistance! He actively had around 20 put outs in the outfield for quite a few years which is themonemal, making me thing he should have an A (14) arm strength. Remember this guy was converted from a pitcher to a outfielder! Simply incredible!
Now pitching and abilities. If anyone gets a genius and is great at this game, please hold off and try to make this guy! We need a genius for him!

I don't know where you research your stats at, but these are the stats that I found at Baseball Almanac for Ruth.

He wasn't as great of a fielder over his entire career as you presented. The 0.996 fielding was solely for the years where he only played left field according to the almanac. Most years he played about 1/3 LF and 2/3 RF.

Ah, yes, your right. I used the same stats and I completly misunderstood. Never mind. So I think we should go back to B- fielding and error resistance with an A- arm. Does that make sense?
I agree that 26 was his best year.
His low career fielding percentage was when he was first getting moved to the outfield. He became an above average fielder as time went on.
here are more but these are off the top of my head.
