Now let's take a look at the individual stats for the Rochester Jets through the month of April.

Image

Now let's take a look at any major transactions or accomplishments that occurred in the month of April.

On April 10th, 2B Dee Gordon of the Mariners hit for the cycle against the Angels as they were victorious 14-7.

On April 24th, the Cubs dealt RP Mike Montgomery (96 DB 1CUT 4CB 5CHG 44SIFB) to the Angels in exchange for SP Shohei Ohtani (103 CA 5SLD 4CB 5SPLT).

This trade was quite baffling on the Angels part considering they just signed Shohei Ohtani to a contract as their new project but he has not had much success since joining the league with a 6.51 ERA. He was placed on the disabled list with elbow tightness when he was traded to the Cubs. On the Angels side, they acquired Mike Montgomery who is currently serving as the team's closer and has a 3.38 ERA.

Jets Have Offensive Explosion in Eighth, Vargas Shoves, Jets Win

ROCHESTER -- Tonight's bout between the Tigers and the Jets had southpaws Daniel Norris and Jason Vargas going up against each other for the first game of the series. In the bottom of the second, Jabari Blash kicked off the scoring with a 2-out solo home run to left center field, his 2nd of the season. In the top of the third, the Tigers would get that run back as Alexi Amarista led off the inning with a single, and Leonys Martin reached on a fielding error by the pitcher, Jason Vargas. Then Jose Iglesias knocked an RBI single to left to tie the game at 1 apiece. In the bottom of the third, the Jets decided they wanted this game more than the Tigers did. It all started off with a Denard Span single. The next batter, Asdrubal Cabrera, bashed a 2-run homer. Then Tyler Austin singled and that was followed up by a Derek Norris double and a Pablo Sandoval 2-run double. Isan Diaz hit the third double in a row to score Sandoval and extend the lead to 6-1. The next batter, Jabari Blash drilled a 2-run home run, his second of the day, and 3rd of the season. Emmanuel Rivera then made the first out. Mark Zagunis then doubled and Denard Span recorded his second hit of the inning with an RBI single to put the score at 9-1. The game would go somewhat calm after the third inning until the seventh. Jason Vargas was pulled after 6 innings allowing only 1 run to lower his ERA quite a bit. In the top of the seventh, off of Jon Brebbia, Mikie Mahtook singled. The next batter, Jeimer Candelario singled, and then Alexi Amarista came through with an RBI double. Then Leonys Martin and Jose Iglesias followed that up with RBI singles of their own to make it 9-4. In the top of the ninth, off of Enny Romero, Miguel Cabrera smashed a two out double, and Nick Castellanos singled him home to make it 9-5. Tyler Clippard came in and shut the door with a groundout to shortstop, Cabrera.

JABARI

I think I prefer the one you've been using most, with the writeup and key players. Though I did enjoy seeing the full box scores so maybe like... mix that in every once in a while if that's possible.

The monthly recap was dope. I think I'd prefer updates on every game but that could just be the final score or even just W/L result if you don't feel like doing full updates for every game.

BREAKING -- Big news in Rochester after the game 2, 8-3 victory over the Tigers, the Rochester Jets are involved in a completed trade with the Oakland Athletics. In this trade, the Jets are sending two prospects, 3B Jonah Arenado and SP Ryan Castellani to the Athletics in exchange for utility man Chad Pinder and minor league SP Andrew Triggs. The Jets believe this trade is very helpful for them to win games now as Pinder brings lots of power and speed to the team that they currently do not have, and Triggs will be another arm in the rotation that gets cycled in and out. Unfortunately they lost two of their biggest prospects in the organization. The Jets also sent over 8 million dollars in cash to the Athletics that they will hopefully spend next year. As a result of this deal, Jeff Locke has been optioned to AAA and Pinder and Triggs were placed on the active roster.

SP Andrew Triggs, R/R, 29 years old, 3.08 ERA
93 TOP SPEED/B(160)/B(142)/SLD(3)/CB(4)/SIFB(2)
w/RISP2, VS LH Batter 4, Release 2, Recovery 4, Groundball P

2/E(6)/B(162)/C(10)/C(10)/D(8)/D(8)

Lively Shines, Cole Falters, Jets Win Game 1 in Houston

HOUSTON -- Game 1 of this series between the Houston Astros and Rochester Jets would put Gerrit Cole and Ben Lively up against each other. This game stayed pretty calm until the third inning when the Jets put together a nice little singles rally to score some runs. It all started with singles by Pablo Sandoval and Isan Diaz. Then Jabari Blash reached on an error and Sandoval came in to score. Chad Pinder then walked to load the bases, and Asdrubal Cabrera singled Diaz and Blash home to extend the lead to 3. In the top of the fourth, Derek Norris doubled and Pablo Sandoval doubled him home and the lead was extended to 4-0. In the top of the eighth, Asdrubal Cabrera tripled and Tyler Austin singled him home to make it 5-0. The next batter, Derek Norris, smashed a 433 foot 2-run home run to left center to extend the lead to 7-0. Ben Lively shined on the mound for the Jets. He delivered 6 and 2/3 shutout innings allowing only 4 hits and striking out 3. Steve Cishek pitched an inning and a third out of relief allowing a hit and striking 1 out. Jacob Turner came in to pitch the ninth and gave up singles to Altuve, Correa, and Reddick, the latter brining home Altuve to make it 7-1. That's where the game would end though, as Turner struck out Evan Gattis to end the Astros' quick rally.

Jets Offense Explodes for 15, Secures Series Over Orioles

BALTIMORE -- The final game of this 3-game, divisional series, between the Rochester Jets and the Baltimore Orioles would pit Chris Tillman up against J.C. Ramirez. Tillman came into this game with an ERA in the 9's so the Jets felt the need to have an offensive explosion, and they did just that. It all started in the top of the first, when Denard Span doubled and Asdrubal Cabrera walked on five pitches. Then Tyler Austin drove an RBI single up the middle. Chad Pinder came up to the plate and plated Cabrera and Austin with a triple in the right center gap. Jabari Blash followed up Pinder with a run scoring double. In the bottom half of the first, the O's got it going with two outs as Machado doubled to left and Danny Valencia drove him home with a single. In the top of the fourth, Pablo Sandoval, Isan Diaz, and Drew Butera doubled back-to-back-to-back to bring home another two runs and extend the lead to 6-1. Once again, the Orioles would answer back as Adam Jones, Trey Mancini, and Craig Gentry all singled back-to-back-to-back and Chance Sisco would knock a sacrifice fly to right to score Jones, making it 6-2. In the top of the fifth, Pinder doubled, and Sandoval smashed a two-run homer over the monster wall in right field making it 8-2, Jets. The Orioles would answer for a third time in the bottom half of the fifth with a Jonathan Schoop triple and a Colby Rasmus sacrifice fly, 8-3. The scoring would go away for awhile until the eighth, when the Jets exploded again. Sandoval, Diaz, and Butera would all smash doubles sequentially for the second time of the night bringing in another two runs. After the next two hitters recorded the first and second outs, Tyler Austin would belt a double to score the eleventh run of the game and make it 11-3. As they had been doing all night, the Orioles would answer this explosion once again in the bottom of the eighth, as Adam Jones would take Steve Cishek deep to left field for a solo homer to make it 11-4. However, the Jets were not done. In the top of the ninth, Jabari Blash doubled to get the inning rolling. That would bring up the Sandoval/Diaz/Butera trio which was scalding hot tonight, and still not done. Sandoval doubled Blash home, Diaz tripled Sandoval home, and Butera smashed his first home run of the season, a two-run shot to left to make it 15-4. Tyler Olson slammed the door on the O's in the ninth ending the series. The Jets would take the series 2-1, and they'll travel to Seattle next to take on the Mariners.

Score
Jets - 15 (18-35)
Orioles - 4 (23-30)

Big Second Inning Takes Mariners over the Top

SEATTLE -- Game 1 of this series between the Seattle Mariners and Rochester Jets would put the undefeated Hisashi Iwakuma up against the southpaw, Jose De Leon. Then, Mike Zunino would take De Leon deep to right field for a three-run homer, his 15th of the season. In the bottom of the fifth, Nelson Cruz got the inning going with a single off of Jacob Turner.
