Eggman out as teams' closer
San Jose-- In what could only be described as a road trip from hell, the team announced that Doctor Eggman is out as the teams' closer. The announcement came after the teams' 9-8 loss to the Astros last night, Eggman's 4th loss and blown save on the road trip. He came into it with a 1.89 ERA, but that has bloated to 3.79. "He's blown more saves than blown schemes" said Sonic, the team captain. What's is crazy is the similar nature of the games, with all of his losses coming in games where the Sonics came back to take the lead, only for him to blow it in the bottom of the inning:

BS #1: The game was tied 6-6 against the Blue Jays going into extras. In the top of the 10th, Sonic blasted a two-run shot off Jeremy Accardo to give the team an 8-6 lead. In the bottom of the 10th, Eggman pitched the bases loaded, and then gave up a two run single to John McDonald to tie it, and a throwing error by Knuckles lead to a 9-8 loss.
BS #2: The Sonics were down 8-3 going into the top of the 9th against the Cubs, but a furious comeback against Bob Howry made it 8-6, before Sonic once again came through with a home run, this one a three run shot. Up 9-8, with two outs in the bottom of the 9th, Eggman got a grounder that should have ended it, but it went right through Blaze's legs, and the next batter, Alfonso Soriano, hit a two-run single to end it.
BS #3: With the score tied 4-4 in the top of the 11th against the Astros, Sonic once again blasted a home run, this one off of Brian Moehler, to give the team a 5-4 lead. In the bottom of the 11th, Eggman got the first two outs, but quickly loaded up the bases before Carlos Lee blasted a walk-off grand slam off of him.
BS #4: This was a back and forth game against the 'Stros, and going into the bottom of the 9th the team had an 8-7 lead. Eggman retired the first two batters once again, but then put a runner on, and Lance Berkman followed with a two-run walk off shot.

With the move, the team will promote Chip to closer, with the team hoping to snap their 8-game losing streak.

June Review: Starting Pitching (Monthly totals in parentheses)

ImageTikal the Echidna: 4-5 (0-3), 111 IP (31.2 IP), 17 GS (5 GS), 121 H (40 H), 62 R (22 R), 58 ER (20 ER), 36 BB (8 BB), 35 K (7 K), 0.97 K/BB (0.88 K/BB), 9 QS (52.9%), 10 HR (5 HR), 182 TB (61 TB), 473 PA (136 PA), 4.70 ERA (5.68 ERA), (.281/.340/.420):(.313/.353/.477)
Analysis: Tikal didn't have her best stuff in June, and it showed on the stat sheet. She was hit hard, evidenced by a 5.68 ERA and .313 average against. Most concerning is her abysmal strikeout rate, as she managed to have a 1.99 K/9, or 5.2% of the time. She going to have to make more batters miss if she wants to have more success. Verdict: D Rank

ImageTails the Fox: 8-5 (4-1), 111.1 IP (38 IP), 17 GS (6 GS), 114 H (37 H), 44 R (12 R), 44 ER (12 ER), 33 BB (11 BB), 76 K (35 K), 2.30 K/BB (3.18 K/BB), 10 QS (58.8%), 10 HR (2 HR), 170 TB (50 TB), 471 PA (162 PA), 3.56 ERA (2.84 ERA), (.265/.323/.390):(.247/.296/.331)
Analysis: Tails continued where he left off, following his great May with an excellent June. He continued to throw a lot of quality innings, even against great teams like the Red Sox and Yankees. At this point, he looks like the ace of the staff. Verdict: A Rank

Robbins: 3-7 (1-2), 95 IP (29.2 IP), 16 GS (5 GS), 91 H (26 H), 57 R (18 R), 55 ER (18 ER), 41 BB (14 BB), 64 K (17 K), 1.56 K/BB (1.21 K/BB), 8 QS (50%), 16 HR (7 HR), 169 TB (54 TB), 412 PA (128 PA), 5.21 ERA (5.46 ERA), (.250/.329/.460):(.228/.313/.474)
Analysis: Normally, when hitters bat .228 against you, you're playing well. But when hitters did manage to make contact against Robbins, it wasn't pretty- he gave up 7 home runs. It is worrisome that this is the case, and the team hopes he manages to keep it in the park. Verdict: D Rank

ImageWave the Swallow: 3-6 (2-1), 81.1 IP (27.2 IP), 14 GS (5 GS), 97 H (36 H), 54 R (21 R), 48 ER (21 ER), 30 BB (7 BB), 51 K (18 K), 1.70 K/BB (2.57 K/BB), 5 QS (35.7%), 11 HR (5 HR), 162 TB (66 TB), 370 PA (127 PA), 5.31 ERA (6.83 ERA), (.292/.360/.480):(.308/.339/.550) Analysis: Wave was wildly inconsistent in her 5 starts. She was phenomenal against the dominant lineups of the Red Sox and Yankees (2-0, 2.25 ERA), but her other three starts left something to be desired (0-1, 10.33 ERA). She gave up way too many extra base hits and home runs. Verdict: E Rank

Scobie: 4-1, 50.2 IP, 9 GS, 59 H, 25 R, 23 ER, 12 BB, 26 K, 2.16 K/BB, 5 QS (55.6%), 6 HR, 91 TB, 215 PA, 4.09 ERA (5.53 ERA), (.295/.335/.450)Analysis: Scobie got settled back into the rotation after his return from the DL. He had a couple nice starts against the Rays and Yankees, but he also had a brutal one against the Cubs. Overall, he just wasn't as impressive as he was early in the year. Verdict: D Rank

June Review: Relief Pitching

ImageChip: 2-2 (1-0), 40 IP (14 IP), 41 G (15 G), 16 HLD (4 HLD), 2 BS (0 BS), 36 H (16 H), 13 R (4 R), 12 ER (4 ER), 15 BB (4 BB), 29 K (8 K), 1.93 K/BB (2.00 K/BB), 2 HR (1 HR), 44 TB (19 TB), 166 PA (61 PA), 2.70 ERA (2.57 ERA), (.243/.317/.290):(.286/.328/.333)
Analysis: Chip had a very impressive month of June. While the .286 average against looks a little high, his OPS against was just .661. With Eggman's struggles, he will be taking over the closer role, so it's now his time for him to show if he has what it takes.Verdict: A Rank

ImageDr. Eggman: 0-4 (0-4), 35.2 IP (11.1 IP), 38 G (13 G), 20-26 SV (5-10 SV), 31 H (17 H), 19 R (13 R), 15 ER (9 ER), 10 BB (4 BB), 28 K (11 K), 2.80 K/BB (2.75 K/BB), 6 HR (3 HR), 55 TB (29 TB), 149 PA (57 PA), 3.79 ERA (7.15 ERA), (.233/.311/.410):(.333/.368/.547)
Analysis: What is there that has not been said? Eggman went into the last roadtrip 20-22 in save opprotunties with an ERA of 1.89. But then came the roadtrip- in four games, he went 0-4 with 4 blown saves, and an ERA of 30.90. He's lost the closer role, and now has to prove himself once again if he wants the job back.Verdict: E Rank

ImageChaos: 4-1 (2-0), 33 IP (11.1 IP), 39 G (13 G), 3 HLD (1 HLD), 3 BS (0 BS), 22 H (5 H), 11 R (2 R), 10 ER (2 ER), 20 BB (6 BB), 24 K (11 K), 1.20 K/BB (1.83 K/BB), 0 HR (0 HR), 36 TB (9 TB), 135 PA (43 PA), 2.73 ERA (1.59 ERA), (.208/.339/.340):(.139/.256/.243)
Analysis: Chaos was absolutely dominant in the month of June. He excelled in all aspects out of the bullpen,
as hitters had an OPS of .499 against him. He also was able to strike out 11 batters in 43 plate appearances (25.6%).Verdict: S Rank

ImageCream the Rabbit: 0-3 (0-0), 21.1 IP (11.2 IP), 25 G (13 G), 6 HLD (3 HLD), 4 BS (1 BS), 24 H (12 H), 11 R (4 R), 11 ER (4 ER), 4 BB (0 BB), 11 K (8 K), 2.75 K/BB (N/A), 4 HR (3 HR), 40 TB (22 TB), 88 PA (45 PA), 4.64 ERA (3.09 ERA), (.289/.322/.480):(.267/.267/.489)
Analysis: Cream had some nice outings out of the 'pen, but she was inconsistent overall. She struggled against the Astros in particular, serving up 3 home runs to them. The power numbers against her will have to go down, but she did show off great control, as she didn't walk a single batter in 45 plate appearances.Verdict: C Rank

Inglett: 4-3 (2-1), 58 IP (17.2 IP), 19 G, 64 H (13 H), 31 R (5 R), 30 ER (5 ER), 13 BB (3 BB), 34 K (7 K), 2.61 K/BB (2.33 K/BB), 5 HR (2 HR), 94 TB (21 TB), 245 PA (66 PA), 4.66 ERA (2.55 ERA), (.283/.325/.410):(.206/.242/.333)

Team Pitching: 4.63 ERA, 397 runs allowed, 778 hits allowed, 79 home runs allowed, 438 K, 256 BB

June Review: Starting Lineup

ImageLF- Knuckles the Echidna- 330 AB (110 AB), 115 H (39 H), 28 2B (10 2B), 4 3B (1 3B), 13 HR (3 HR), 62 RBI (19 RBI), 49 R (20 R), 63 K (23 K), 23 BB (12 BB), 190 TB (60 TB), 355 TPA (123 TPA), (.348/.394/.576):(.355/.423/.545)
Analysis: Knuckles continued his MVP-caliber first have with a fantastic June. He mashed the ball, hitting over .300 and slugging north of .500 for the third consecutive month.Verdict: S Rank

Image1B- Espio the Chameleon- 279 AB (98 AB), 87 H (26 H), 18 2B (4 2B), 2 3B (2 3B), 7 HR (2 HR), 40 RBI (13 RBI), 38 R (15 R), 36 K (17 K), 64 BB (23 BB), 130 TB (40 TB), 345 TPA (122 TPA), (.312/.438/.466):(.265/.402/.408)
Analysis: Espio saw his average dip for the third consecutive month. He also saw a spike in strikeouts, being punched out 17 times after just 19 in the first two months. However, he was by no means a bad player or liabilty, as he still showed terrific patience at the plate (18.9% walk rate) and had an OPS of .810.Verdict: B Rank

Image3B- Shadow the Hedgehog- 292 AB (95 AB), 73 H (29 H), 19 2B (6 2B), 0 3B (0 3B), 11 HR (8 HR), 45 RBI (25 RBI), 37 R (20 R), 51 K (19 K), 33 BB (13 BB), 125 TB (59 TB), 333 TPA (111 TPA), (.250/.324/.428):(.305/.378/.621)
Analysis: Once again, benching a player for a couple games got the player going. After using the tactic to get Sonic on track early in the year, the team did the same to get Shadow to heat up, and boy did it work. He absolutely hammered the ball, displaying the power that had eluded him the first two months. On top of that, he hit 8 home runs and drove in 25, and his ISO was great as well (.316). It's no coincidence that the Sonics' offense came together when Shadow did.Verdict: S Rank

ImageSS- Sonic the Hedgehog- 288 AB (97 AB), 81 H (28 H), 12 2B (4 2B), 3 3B (0 3B), 8 HR (6 HR), 36 RBI (14 RBI), 46 R (18 R), 67 K (23 K), 29 BB (8 BB), 123 TB (50 TB), 327 TPA (111 TPA), (.281/.356/.427):(.289/.361/.515)
Analysis: Sonic had a great month as well. Like Shadow, he started to hit for power, with 6 home runs during the month. He also showed fantastic clutch ability, with three of those being go ahead home runs in the 9th or later. He still struck out too much, with 23, but the Sonics will take the power trade off any day of the week.Verdict: S Rank

ImageRF- Silver the Hedgehog- 257 AB (92 AB), 77 H (28 H), 18 2B (6 2B), 1 3B (1 3B), 13 HR (5 HR), 55 RBI (23 RBI), 39 R (14 R), 52 K (20 K), 37 BB (9 BB), 136 TB (51 TB), 298 TPA (103 TPA), (.300/.386/.529):(.304/.369/.554)
Analysis: Silver continued where he left off after the second half of May, as his June was just as good. He had 12 extra base hits, including 5 home runs, and drove in 23 runs. Verdict: S Rank

ImageCF- Amy Rose- 257 AB (116 AB), 80 H (36 H), 8 2B (4 2B), 1 3B (1 3B), 2 HR (2 HR), 19 RBI (10 RBI), 42 R (14 R), 43 K (17 K), 17 BB (4 BB), 96 TB (48 TB), 283 TPA (123 TPA), (.311/.361/.374):(.310/.339/.414)
Analysis: Amy had a pretty solid June. She continued to hit for a high average (.310) and also displayed some power as well, with 2 home runs and a .414 slugging percentage. She still needs to walk more (3.3%), but she's still a very good leadoff hitter.Verdict: B Rank

ImageC- Vector the Crocodile- 174 AB (62 AB), 42 H (17 H), 6 2B (2 2B), 0 3B (0 3B), 3 HR (2 HR), 21 RBI (5 RBI), 11 R (5 R), 30 K (10 K), 14 BB (4 BB), 57 TB (25 TB), 191 TPA (67 TPA), (.241/.305/.328):(.274/.328/.403)
Analysis: Vector improved on his lackluster May with a decent June. He hit 2 home runs and his OPS of .732 was the best he's had for a month.Verdict: C Rank

Image2B- Blaze the Cat- 165 AB (97 AB), 50 H (30 H), 10 2B (6 2B), 5 3B (3 3B), 2 HR (2 HR), 18 RBI (10 RBI), 35 R (22 R), 27 K (16 K), 10 BB (7 BB), 76 TB (48 TB), 178 TPA (105 TPA), (.303/.343/.461):(.309/.356/.495)
Analysis: Blaze got back on track in June. She settled very nicely in the #2 spot of the lineup. She showed off some terrific gap power, with 6 doubles and 3 triples, and even managed 2 home runs. She also lead the team with 22 runs scored on the month. It's clear the team is a much better lineup with her in it.Verdict: A Rank

June Review: Reserves/Pitchers hitting:

C- Mills- 123 AB (40 AB), 26 H (10 H), 6 2B (2 2B), 2 3B (0 3B), 2 HR (1 HR), 15 RBI (5 RBI), 14 R (5 R), 38 K (10 K), 20 BB (5 BB), 42 TB (15 TB), 148 TPA (45 TPA), (.211/.331/.341):(.250/.333/.375)
Analysis: Mills had an alright month at the plate. He stuck out too much (22.2%), but he wasn't a liability, and should continue to see starts from time to time. Verdict: C Rank

ImageIF- Charmy Bee- 120 AB (24 AB), 24 H (7 H), 5 2B (3 2B), 0 3B (0 3B), 1 HR (1 HR), 7 RBI (4 RBI), 22 R (7 R), 24 K (4 K), 19 BB (1 BB), 32 TB (13 TB), 142 TPA (26 TPA),(.200/.314/.267):(.292/.346/.542)
Analysis: Charmy was much, much better at the plate in June. He only managed 24 plate appearances, but the was very good when he got to the plate. He had a game against the Cubs where he crushed three extra base hits (1 home run, 2 doubles).Verdict: S Rank

ImageUT- Omega- 94 AB (27 AB), 22 H (7 H), 2 2B (0 2B), 2 3B (0 3B), 2 HR (0 HR), 7 RBI (1 RBI), 8 R (3 R), 22 K (4 K), 9 BB (2 BB), 34 TB (7 TB), 103 TPA (29 TPA), (.234/.301/.362):(.259/.310/.259)
Analysis: Omega did not hit very well in June. While his .259 average doesn't look too bad, he didn't even manage a single extra base hit. Verdict: E Rank

ImageOF- Metal Sonic: 74 AB (52 AB), 23 H (16 H), 5 2B (2 2B), 0 3B, 3 HR (3 HR), 19 RBI (14 RBI), 9 R (7 R), 13 K (10 K), 5 BB (4 BB), 37 TB (27 TB), 80 TPA (56 TPA), (.311/.350/.500):(.308/.357/.519)
Analysis: Metal Sonic was once again easily the teams' top batter off the bench. He was able to see the most playing time, specifically out of the DH role, and was able to make the most of it, as he came up clutch with 14 RBIs in 56 plate appearances (including six in a game against the Orioles) while slugging .519. With his versatility to play all the outfield positions, expect to see him get more playing time in July. Verdict: A Rank

ImageOF- Rouge the Bat- 10 AB, 4 H, 0 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 1 R, 4 K, 0 BB, 4 TB, 10 TPA, (.400/.400/.400)
Analysis: The team needed a lefty to replace Fussell of the bench, and Rouge jumped at the chance to sign with the Sonics. She only had 10 plate appearances, but got hits in 4 of them. The team hope that she, like Metal Sonic, sees more playing time in July. Verdict: B Rank

ImageP- Tikal the Echidna- 27 AB (7 AB), 7 H (2 H), 3 2B (0 2B), 0 3B (0 3B), 0 HR (0 HR), 1 RBI (0 RBI), 5 R (1 R), 10 K (2 K), 1 BB (0 BB), 10 TB (2 TB), 36 TPA (8 TPA), (.259/.310/.370):(.286/.286/.286)

ImageP- Tails the Fox- 27 AB (7 AB), 3 H (0 H), 1 2B (0 2B), 0 3B (0 3B), 0 HR (0 HR), 0 RBI (0 RBI), 1 R (0 R), 9 K (3 K), 2 BB (1 BB), 4 TB (0 TB), 36 TPA (9 TPA), (.111/.172/.148):(.000/.125/.000)

ImageP- Wave the Swallow- 24 AB (6 AB), 3 H (0 H), 0 2B (0 2B), 0 3B (0 3B), 0 HR (0 HR), 0 RBI (0 RBI), 2 R (0 R), 6 K (2 K), 0 BB (0 BB), 3 TB (1 TB), 28 TPA (7 PA), (.125/.125/.125):(.000/.000/.000)

Team Batting: .270 AVG, 377 runs scored, 755 hits, 69 HR
