Since 2K Sports has a lock on the MLB licence at the moment, why not develop another MLB Power Pros game, but using rosters comprised of all time players?

For example, the Yankees having a roster of Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle playing against a Phillies team with Steve Carlton, Mike Schmidt, and John Kruk.

Intriguing right? So here's how it would work. The game would be an exact port of the current MLB Power Pros game (with all modes included) except that the current rosters would be filled with star players of the past AND present. That way, you could have someone like Ted Williams playing alongside David Ortiz. Another reason is that it would help fill out the rosters for newer teams with fewer "great" players like the Rays, D-Backs, etc.

Although all the teams could play at their current stadiums (which have already been modelled), it'd be neat to have old stadiums included. For example, Crosley Field (Reds), Polo Grounds (Giants), Astrodome (Astros).

What do you guys think? Would you buy a game like this? Please respond to the poll!

One other thing...

If you could pick an all-time roster for your favorite team, who would be included?

While they're at it, why not include a Negro league All-Star team? Hmm..."Cool Papa" Bell, "Satchel" Paige (in his prime), Jackie Robinson? Yes, please!

LB- Yeah, it was tough leaving "Cheo" on the bench as he could just as easily be a starter! 2K would HAVE to instruct Jack Merluzzi to say his name like they did in the dome days, "Jose Cruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuzzz".

If 2k were to do this, I really doubt it would be in power pros. Power Pros would most likely not do this as they have never done anything like this in Japan and appear to know very little about previous baseball stars. They don't keep track of any records of players who aren't active in terms of all-time records and for season records there is only one thing before 2000 and its in 1998 or 7.
By the way, the highly questionable and with so many great players probably wrong list:
C- Yogi Berra
1B- Lou Gherig
2B- Joe Mcgraw, on the Baltiomore Orioles (that became the Yankees in a few years. He's known much more for being a manager of the Giants but was still a tremendous player with the third highest OBP of all time)
SS- Derek Jeter
3B- A-Rod
LF- Bambino
CF- Joe Dimagio
RF- Mickey Mantle
DH- Earle Combes
Back Up Catcher: Bill Dickey
Back up Outfielder: Reggie Jackson
Back up First Baseman/DH: Don Mattingly
Back up Infielder: Rizzuto (One of the best infielders of all time in terms of fielding with the most put-outs, assist, and double-plays of all time)
Pitching:
Ace: "Happy" Jack Chesbro
2. Joe "Iron Man" McGinnity
3. Whitey Ford
4. Lefty Gomez
5. Ron Guidry
Mop Up Man: Andy Pettite
Long Reliever/back up starter: Mel Stottylemyre
Seventh Inning Guy:Goose Gossage
Set-Up: Lyle
Closer: Mariano Rivera

//To keep in the theme of other threads

You know your franchise's history is stacked when... Reggie Jackson and Don Mattingly are 'rightfully' on the bench.

John McGraw you mean. Actually, he was a third baseman...

Why the heck is Combs playing DH when Reggie Jackson (in spite of his strikeouts) is miles ahead in terms of hitting?

Good, but you forgot Oscar Charleston, Mule Suttles, John Henry "Pop" Lloyd, and Buck Leonard

Willie Mays is the greatest 5 tool player ever.

no questions asked.

and no, that's only a little off topic, since we are talking about legends.

Can't do a full lineup, but Steve Carlton and Robin Roberts for the Phillies. Schimdt at third. Boone behind plate. Obvouisly Tug at closer. Jim Bunning SP as well. Center field Gary Maddux. Maybe if thsi came out a little later (2-3 years) howard might even take first with utley at second! Trillo was good though. The only problem with this mode would be that teams like the phillies have an advantage being around for over 120 years, they have had so many great palyers, whereas teams like the D-backs ae still new, and don't have as much history. Great idea though.
