* means the ability has been used for just this season only or there may be insufficient data to conclusively give someone an ability or rating. Some players may have pull out of the ASG but are included above.

So Rob, can I ask you for which LOB% warrants W/RISP 4? (in your opinion) And what makes you give Poise 4

For W/RISP levels I consider multiple levels of stats

1. Although I do take with a grain of salt is minor league stats and fantasy projections; this is if I'm unsure of the player. But in saying that, if I'm still undecided after that I leave it as is.
2. W/RISP in various situations, how many outs and find a balance within that. Batting averages in this instance I rate those below .200 as W/RISP 4, though this would also be dependent on the players history in which I look back on average over 3 seasons, or more for a conclusive stat or ability. But LOB% would be looked at as well.
3. The LOB% which I do look at over 3 seasons, career average of LOB% and age (if the player is aging and if the trend is declining I would hold back on that ability)


Thus W/RISP 4 I look at LOB%. Mostly if they're above 75% but I do consider 74%, but past performance would come into play, if it is a poor season etc, and career averages. But it does consider the above conditions too.

W/RISP 2 anything below 70%. But the above conditions apply.



Poise is a little different

Poise I use under different circumstances. Partcularly;

1. As a red ability balancing ability. But only if the player is not renowned for giving up consecutive hits, homers, has game melt downs after the 5th inning (choke artist), or loses games when they're pretty much in the bag, or on the line or is renowned to loose their temper hot head.
2. Composure on the mound, but again the above conditions apply
3. Post season performance.



Jag, I know that I do differ on opinions of abilities to you guys and alot of the time my abilities will be exagerated or less than what you guys give players. I know it may mean you guys scratch your heads as it appears I give players abilities for the sake of it. This is due to the amount of season play I do, and research. Release ability is an example. I know you guys look at the stealing success % and if the amount of steals is in the teens, but I consider the amount of steals to be more related to the pitcher, but the caught stealing % has some impact from the catcher, given if the catcher has a poor pop time, then regardless of the pitchers release amount (ability), a steal could steal result, and not necessarily be caught stealing.
But don't take it the wrong way as its not a bad thing, I just think that we all have differing ways of looking at stats, which is probably a good thing.

All good info, I'll look into different ways for those. And yeah we basically all have different opinions/philosophies; that's why I mentioned it before. And because (like I said) we don't know how Konami used their thresholds for the abilities, so it's an educated guessing game

Oof. Is J.D. Martinez that bad of a defender? I mean, he's not overly great, but he's not overly bad either, I don't think.

That's why I was hesitant posting some of the Tigers as I hadn't looked at the fielding properly yet. These I originally set when he began in Houston. Power is the other issue. But the Tigers and Oakland are the last teams I have. Then some ironing out of abilities. Simulating seasons has seen the royals bullpen kill other teams. Stanton also had 64 homers and the Marlins still lost 110 games
