Today I looked up why the Upper Peninsula of Michigan isn't a part of Wisconsin, and it actually has a pretty interesting story.

Yeah, the government took part of the Wisconsin Territory to make Michigan feel better about having to give up Toledo when they were setting up their borders to become a state. :/
