Los Angeles Angels (6-5) @ Seattle Mariners (5-6)
April 13th, 2009.

Mariners win as Guerrero and Beltre both smack fifth homers.

Mariners: 4
Angels: 2

Win: A. Miller (1-1)
Save: Dickey (4)
Loss: E. Santana
HR: Guerrero (5)
Beltre (5)

Willingham (3)

Seattle -- The Seattle Mariners had arrived for their much anticipated 2009 home debut, and it was much anticipated for a reason, as the two sluggers Adrian Beltre and Vladimir Guerrero both hit one out into the stands to treat the fans to a good night out at the ballpark. It was a great game overall for Seattle, as even though starter Andrew Miller only went five innings, Brian Fuentes went three to setup the door for Robert Allen Dickey, who has been lights out in the closer role, finishing his third game of the season with a three strikeout ninth inning, utilizing his knuckleball and his fastball to great extent. This is the start of a great season, we Seattle Mariners fans hope.

Andrew Miller (5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 SO)
Vladimir Guerrero (2-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI)

Ervin Santana (8 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 4 SO)
Gary Matthews Jr. (2-4, 1 3B)

Record: (7-8)

1st: Oakland Athletics (11-4)
2nd: Los Angeles Angels (8-7)
3rd: Seattle Mariners (7-8)
4th: Texas Rangers (4-11)

Seattle Mariners (7-8) @ Oakland Athletics (11-4)
April 18th, 2009.

Mariners win in comeback effort as Seattle takes opening series in Oakland

Mariners: 5
Oakland: 4

Win: Dempster (1-2)
Save: Dickey (6)
Loss: Harden (0-1)
HR: E. Chavez (2) (5), (6).
Ibanez (5)

Oakland -- Erik Bedard made his first start against the Seattle Mariners since he was traded to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for Daric Barton and Dana Eveland, it appears to be in favour for the Oakland A's, as Dana Eveland is just a so-and-so reliever for the squad, and Daric Barton is the backup first baseman. Bedard did very well and appeared to be on track for a complete game shutout until the top of the eighth, when he allowed a solo shot to Raul Ibanez, he then proceeded to allow two more runs, and was taken out for Rich Harden, at this point the game was tied, then the M's scored another two in the top of the ninth inning to setup for the closer, R.A. Dickey, as his magical season as the closer of the Mariners continues, as he struckout two and got one man to break his bat to earn his sixth save as a Seattle Mariner.

H. Bailey (5 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 2 SO)
Vladimir Guerrero (3-5, 2 2B, 1 RBI)

Erik Bedard (7 & 2/3 IP, 12 H, 3 ER, 5 SO)
Eric Chavez (2-4, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 R)

Record: (10-8)

1st: Oakland Athletics (11-7)
2nd: Seattle Mariners (10-8)
3rd: Los Angeles Angels (8-10)
4th: Texas Rangers (7-11)

Top notch international free agent says he'll go to the highest bidder.

Top notch slugger Chris Davis has just finished out his contract for the Hanshin Tigers, and although is only at the tender age of 30, he has the skills of a polished big leaguer, with D contact, B power and average fielding, it looks like he'll go far in this league, he is not related to the Chris Davis in the Rangers farm system, as he's Asian. He reports through his translator he'll go to the highest bidder, postseason or not, Mariners GM Prediction reports he is not pursuing the first baseman.

he was a failed Chris Davis attempt, so I'll just throw him in there.

Texas Rangers (7-11) @ Seattle Mariners (10-8)
April 21st, 2009.

Mariners win as "The King" hurls complete game

Mariners: 2
Rangers: 1

Win: F. Hernandez (2-1)
Save: X
Loss: Jennings (0-4)
HR: Catalanotto (1)

Seattle -- Felix Hernandez has thrown a complete game! After an abysmal 2008 season in which the Venezuelan didn't nearly live up to expectations, he appears to be back, better than ever as he throws a complete game, allowing just one run off of Frank Catalanotto. The offense was rather bleak today, as they let a season high 11 runners on base, as the team just struggled to score runs, the only two they did score occurred in the seventh inning, the same inning Catalanotto broke the tie, as Josh Fields hit a RBI double and then scored on a single by Ronny Paulino to take the lead, Felix would only get in trouble one more time for the rest of the game when the bases were loaded, but he struck out a guy for the first out, and then doubled Ian Kinsler off to avoid any trouble.

Felix Hernandez (9 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 3 SO)
Josh Fields (2-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI)

Jason Jennings (6 & 2/3 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 4 SO)
Frank Catalanotto (2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI)

Record: (12-9)

1st: Oakland Athletics (14-7)
2nd: Seattle Mariners (12-9)
3rd: Los Angeles Angels (8-13)
3rd: Texas Rangers (8-13)
How do you guys like this colour for the mariners versus this colour for the mariners?

SEATTLE -- Mr. Elijah Dukes and the Mariner Moose will be holding a joint press conference this afternoon at 3:00. No word on the topic of discussion. However, there is speculation that the two gentlemen/creatures will address the media and answer questions regarding an altercation that occurred between the two during the National Anthem prior to last night's game.

It is believed that Dukes' line of moose jerky, which he introduced immediately following his trade to the Mariners, has been a source of tension between the two.

SEATTLE - "It's trade deadline day and Mariners outfielder Elijah Dukes has been a hot topic on the trade front. Today at Safeco Field during the game, he was seen in the dugout hugging not teammates, but his esteemed beef jerky. We're not sure if he has been traded to another team or if he's just insane. Stay tuned."

Vladdle up, Mariners win on walkoff homer by Guerrero

Image

Mariners: 7
Athletics: 6

Win: Dickey (1-0)
Save: X
Loss: Papelbon (0-2)
HR: F. Thomas (6)
O. Hudson (3)
Guerrero (8)

Seattle -- Mariners win! And not the usual kind of win, as they win on a walkoff homerun by Vladimir Guerrero! After a stellar start by Mariners pitcher Josh Johnson, Ryan Dempster entered the ball game, after seeing some light after a bad start to the season, his early April form returned, as he surrendered three runs to the visiting Athletics, two on a RBI double by Frank "The Big Hurt" Thomas to tie the game up at 6 apiece. R.A. Dickey then entered the game, and his amazing season continued, as he then pitched 1 and two thirds innings with just 12 pitches to end the Mariners pitching half of the game, and set it up for Vladimir Guerrero. Vladdy had already had a stellar day at the plate, he was one of the five Mariners to hit five doubles in a row (a franchise record) but he made his good day great, as on the first pitch he saw, he drove it into the right field bleachers to win the game for the Mariners, and start off the homestand against Oakland with style.

Josh Johnson (7 & 1/3 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 1 SO)
Vladimir Guerrero (4-5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI)

Matt Morris (6 IP, 14 H, 6 ER, 3 SO)
Frank "The Big Hurt" Thomas (4-5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI)

Record: (15-9)

1st: Seattle Mariners (15-9)
2nd: Oakland Athletics (14-10)
3rd: Los Angeles Angels (10-14)
4th: Texas Rangers (9-15)

(Vladimir Guerrero won the first player of the week honour for the mariners in 2009.)
