It was my lifelong dream to one day play in either the NFL or NBA when I grew up. I was considered a top-50 prospect in both sports but opted to skip my last three years of college and go into the NBA. Scouts said I was crazy, that my inexperience would lead me to failure. As a 6'3" shooting guard, I went out to prove them wrong.

Going into the Rookie Showcase I hope to perform well enough to go in the top 20 but if not, I want to get picked at either #21 or #22 by my favorite team, the Celtics.

I was named the starter at shooting guard but never got anything going. I fouled out early in the fourth quarter, finishing 0-for-16 from the field and 0-for-15 from 3, in addition to one turnover. Scouts stated that I had earned an "F" grade as far as team play went, and I couldn't really disagree.

I was set up in a chair and three GMs came in to speak with me. The Thunder (picking 28th) asked me if I could join their young core and I replied confidently. They asked what needed to improve and I said my offensive game. The Bulls (picking 29th) asked what I thought of defense and I said I respected defense. Then the GM asked me about the cold weather and I told him I grew up in Massachusetts. The Warriors (picking 7th and 30th) asked how I could fit in with Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. I told the GM I could do well learning from them but that I wanted to then move into a starting role. He then asked what I would do with my first paycheck. I thought about my friends back home in Lowell and replied that I would take care of them first then worry about myself. Going into the draft I was projected to be picked 28th by the Thunder. I waited for what seemed like ages until finally, the Chicago Bulls used the 29th pick to acquire none other than me, Carson Harris.

Shortly thereafter I was informed of a marketing campaign titled "He's Got Next!" which featured me. I logged into my Twitter account, @Carson_H3, and fans were already talking about it. I checked my followers and I had 14,310, including many of the NBA rookies.

It's my first day on the Bulls. Earlier I played a game of Knockout with four other players but I got last. An hour or so ago I went to the store. I bought an orange T-shirt, a white sleeveless shirt, a pair of jeans, and a green suit. I also learned from my agent, Tom Howell, that my contract would pay me $500,000 annually for 2 years.

I will be treating 1 VC as $1,000 when discussing salary, but as 25¢ when discussing purchases (as a T-shirt would not cost thousands of dollars).

Early this morning I went out to an autograph signing where I signed magazines for an hour. I then checked Twitter and saw that I had gained another 2400 followers. I then went to shoot around a bit and my mid-range and 3-point shots seemed to have improved.

A bit later, Derrick Rose texted me and said that we were having dinner as a team tonight so we could bond a little better. We all went to Giordano's for pizza. I went home and read a text from my younger brother Matthew, a senior in high school, which asked what colleges I thought he should apply to. I said that UMass, Illinois-Chicago, and Northwestern had all offered him baseball scholarships and that he should consider them before any other colleges. I also told him that I was buying an apartment in Chicago and if he went to Illinois-Chicago and I was still with the Bulls, he could live with me instead of buying his own apartment or living in a dorm. He said he would consider those three and that he was leaning towards UMass and Illinois, which had offered him a chance to walk on to the baseball team. I said any of those 4 were good options, then took a shower and went to sleep at 11 pm.
