Yeah, Verlander is probably a bit too good...

Are you saying it's wrong to talk to a bag of Skittles? Because if so, I'm going to need to rethink a lot of things. :P

Yeah, that Tigers series was rough, but with the record we have, it doesn't hurt to lose 2 of 3, right?

May 4, 2012 - Story Update, Part 4

After the showcase showdown, Robert returned to the audience to watch what would happen the rest of the show. It turned out that Kayla took over the show from there. Figuratively, of course. She made a clean sweep in the "Any Number" game, winning a brand new Kia Soul, and cleaned up in the second showcase showdown, landing on the dollar on her first spin, and she landed on it on her bonus spin, giving her $26,000 just in the Showdown alone. To say that Robert was nervous about facing his girlfriend of all people in the Showcase was understating it. He actually thought that she was a threat to defeat him for the last game of the day.

Drew brought the show back from commercial, and they began the showcase. The first showcase - well, the first item in the Showcase caught Robert's eye immediately: a trip for two to Tokyo, Japan. It was packaged in with a chance to see - of all things - a Japanese Baseball game featuring the Giants and the up-and-coming team, the Kyoto Knights, which Robert had never heard of before.

The showcase concluded with a private martial arts lesson and a new Smart Car, which made him laugh a little bit, since he used a rented one to get to the studio in the first place. When it came time to bid, Kayla, going first since she was the big winner of the day, decided she didn't want to bid, and passed it on to Robert.

Robert heard all sorts of bids, but he ultimately pulled an offer seemingly out of nowhere, since he didn't know what else to bid. "I'll go with $20,547, Drew." The price flashed up on his podium, and they went to the next showcase, which Kayla had to bid on.

The showcase included a new bedroom set, an ADT security system, and a new game room. Obviously, Robert had the better showcase, at least that's what he thought. Kayla bid $15,000 on her Showcase. After that, they went to a commercial break.

During the commercial break, Drew was called backstage, which made Robert and Kayla a bit puzzled. They had their own theories, such as someone having their bid exactly right, among other things.

Eventually, they came back from the commercial to reveal the bids. He first went to Robert's showcase, the trip to Tokyo, the martial arts lesson, and the Smart Car. When Robert heard the actual retail price of his showcase, he darned near fainted.

It was spot on with his bid.

$20,547.

But what they needed to do now is see if Kayla's was spot-on. Robert was sitting pretty right now, very sure of himself that he was the big winner of the day.

That feeling lasted no more than 10 seconds.

Apparently, the ARP of her showcase was exactly $15,000.

It ended in a perfect tie, which shocked everyone in the studio.

The producers and Drew talked about the situation for a brief moment, bu ultimately decided to let them both have their respective showcases, thus ending the taping. Both Robert and Kayla ran as fast as they could to their showcases.

Later

Outside the studio, Robert and Kayla were about to head on to their respective homes. Robert had just one thing to ask.

"How the heck did THAT happen?" Robert asked.

"I have absolutely no clue," Kayla replied, "but the good thing is, we both got what we wanted, right?"

"Right," Robert said, "well, it was great to see you again. I hope we'll see each other again in the near future."

"Yep. I really do," Kayla replied, "I'll see you around, Robbie."

And with that, Robert felt something that he had never felt before. He felt Kayla plant a kiss on his cheek, causing him to faint out of pure happiness. Kayla had to carry him to the airport to get him on the team plane. Thankfully, her plane home was at the same airport the Mendenhals team plane was. And then, they all headed home, with satisfaction all abound.

END OF ARC

NEXT UPDATE: Games, games, and more games.
