That story was messed up until the pedophile reveal. The kid (adult?) deserved it x10.

PE is so different now. Back in my day we played war ball, which was just a more violent name for dodge ball. Before we picked teams one day in class, the PE teacher pulled me and another athlete aside and told us we would get bonus points for face shots on a specific kid he didn't like. The kid was a filthy little jerk full of insults, probably two-years too old for our grade, who hardly ever showed up for class. His nickname was the Grisly Gopher. We didn't like him either so we gave it to him pretty good. But the story gets better (worse?).

Later in the year we played football. Same situation, PE teacher pulled us aside, made my friend and I captains, and said we would get an A+ for the year if we took out the Gopher. "A+ for you both if you take out ________. I'll tell you why later. Trust me. You will be glad you did." Those were his exact words. We were getting an A+ anyway, but whatever. The Gopher was the last pick and ended up on the other team. On the first play of the game, my friend gives me a wink and lobs a pass in the Gopher's direction. I timed it perfectly. Just as the balls hits the Gopher in the shoulder, I plow through him at full speed and knock him 10 feet into a chain link fence. I could hear the PE teacher laughing behind us as the Gopher writhed in a ball of pain, his leg pinned under the fence. After a minute he stood up and limped to the gym. I thought for sure I was going to get a call to the Principal's office. It never happened, and we never saw the Grisly Gopher again. During the next week or so, random teachers and faculty members would come up to me and say, "Hey, I hear you took out _______! Way to go!" Or, "Let me shake your hand! You know what I'm talking about! Nice work!" It was unsettling because I felt guilty for dishing out that cheap shot, and here were all these adults, these protectors of children, who seemed overjoyed by the result. But it also dawned on me that there must have been a good reason. I was right.

On the last day of PE, my teacher pulled me aside and told me about the Gopher. He was a convicted pedophile in another state, and was under investigation for additional offenses here in our hometown. He would hide in the bushes and prey on grade school boys who were walking home from school. The teachers were aware of this and fought like hell to keep the kid out of our school but they were unsuccessful. The day I knocked the crap out of him was the last day he ever showed up at school. I heard a few years after graduation that the Gopher is serving a life term in prison.

Did you read what Eric said afterwards? How he kinda regrets the decision?

Finals start tomorrow for me! I have algebra first from 7:45-9:35 and then have a 30 minute break and then have my flash animation final from 10:05-11:30.

After this week: Christmas break!
