Well I wanted Frazier to win. I guess I said that somewhere else. All my friends at school said Harper would win too. I said he would also but I wanted Frazier to win and also thought he should. I am from a Reds family that all

Yeah, but I come from a Reds family, so I get to watch a lot of their games. Frazier was good. Is it bad to have thoughts :nonono:

I agree wholeheartedly. Who he is is what swung the vote. Harper's season, particularly through August, was mediocre at best for a rookie. Granted, he was fantastic in September, while Miley and Frazier were quite sub-par, so I guess it was more of a toss-up that was decided by his fame.

Harper is the second-youngest ever to win the award (just a few weeks older than Dwight Gooden), slugged 22 homers and stole 18 bases while missing the first month of the season, was in the top 25 in the NL for SLG and OPS, was 13th in the NL and 21st in the MLB for WAR, and his team actually made playoffs (it does make a little difference I think).

However, I will say that Miley does compare very well to Harper by those regards, measuring very well both sabermetrically and traditionally (too lazy to cite stats other than ERA/ERC/DIPS that hovers around 3), and that the case could be made for either player to win the award.

Sorry to stray off of baseball, but I have a basketball scrimmage tomorrow. Me and this one other guy are battling for a varsity spot. He said that for now, we'll be playing J.V. and varsity.

I'm hoping that doesn't last long. :wink:

Just played our season opener for my school team, winning the game 27-10. I scored 4 on a field goal and 2 free throws. I took a few more shots but didn't hit. Glad we won! :)
