Was just wondering why so few players have 4 TRJ? Even Fielder went from 4 to 3

4 isn't realistic. 3 is very realistic, just like he won't give 15 speed because that isn't realistic

What Liam said. With 4 TRJ it's pretty much either home run or flyout, unless you hit it really off-center. With 3 TRJ you still have a lot of homers and flyouts (with the right PWR rating of course) but there are also more base hits, doubles, etc.

Pretty much. There are players who hit a high percentage of fly balls without hitting a high percentage of homers. Just picking one guy out of the bunch, Scott Hairston, he currently grades out with TRJ 4 and PWR 123-143. That combo would have him hitting more homers than he probably should, especially when controlled by the user. Without testing, it's tough to know exactly how these players will perform because blue/red/green abilities and, for whatever reason, batting stance play a part.

When I adjust the hitters in the next couple of months I am going to make adjustments based on fly ball distance of non-homers and non-infield fly balls. Most players in MLBPP can hit the ball 450 feet when they square up a fat pitch and the same can be said for most major leaguers, but I have a hunch that the average distance of a batter's routine fly balls will be the best indicator of his true power.

Well if the idea is to keep things more realistic, then would it not be better to have 2 values, like there is currently for power( + for default game and - for realism).

For TRJ? Only 15 default players have TRJ 4 while 17 players on my list have TRJ 4. There was a pretty clear dividing line between TRJ 4 and TRJ 3 if I recall. I don't see any need to force a second option significantly above or below that.

So Eric, just wondering if you are anywhere close to finishing fielding ratings because I want to start picking out players for 40-man rosters for updating 2013. Also, for international free agents, like Hiroyuki Nakajima, will you be editing their ratings in? Thanks so much for this ED44 and I can't wait to start updating the rosters again!
