(74-34) Eagles vs Royals (55-53): Game 1

Our hitting really piled it on tonight in front of the hometown crowd. They knocked in runs in each of the first four innings - one in the first, one in the second, two in the third, and one in the fourth. It was a Blake Carter deep homer to right field in the bottom of the first that started us off, only after the Royals struck first blood wih a Brian McCann RBI single. Then catcher Francisco Cervelli came right back and singled home a run in the second. Evan Longoria went down in the top of the third; Mike Olt was his replacement. Shortly after, Chris Davis smashed a two-run shot into the first row in center field that just barely got out of the park to make it 4-1 in our favor. The next inning, Dustin Ackley scored on a fielder's choice. KC salvaged a run in their half of the fifth with an RBI single by Eric Hosmer, to make it 5-2. Brandon Beachy's day was done after 5 innings, with reliever Blake Wood arriving in his place. The game stayed 5-2, as Andrew Brooks held down the lead well. It wasn't until the 8th inning that the Royals made some noise, getting a few singles off of a tired Brooks. A change was made and lefty Jonny Venters came into the game. On another fielder's choice, Brian McCann scored, the score now 5-3. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Jason Bourgeois pinch-ran for Mike Cuddyer, only for a clutch double play to be turned. The runners were stranded, and just to make sure the lead was locked, Ryan Zimmerman slammed a two-run homer to left field in the bottom half of the 8th. Venters got the support he needed, and though he ran into trouble in the 9th (a fielder's choice with two runners on allowed a run to score), he finished off the win with a strikeout on Josh Willingham, picking up the save in the process, and extending the (now) 4-0 streak against KC this season.

Player of the Game: Cervelli - Knocked in the winning run with hit in the bottom of the 2nd

Final Score:
Royals: 4
Eagles: 7

W - Brooks (12-6) | L - Beachy (4-7) | SV - Venters (18)
HR: B. Carter (26), C. Davis (13), Zimmerman (10)

He's practicing Fielding. Currently he's at 4/A/B/B/B/B/A.

Anything else?

What are Cliff Lee and Mike Trout practicing, what are their abilities, and how are they doing this year?

Perhaps, Zero, perhaps.
Though he's improved a lot over 4 years with so much practice and training items.

Sorry I didn't get back to you on that Anthony, I've been playing a lot of Halo 3 lately. :)

The log will likely resume sometime tomorrow, with me simming the next two Royals games and getting those summaries up. After that I might get another game in, we'll see...

Depends on how much HW I have, tbh :)

Okay. So, would you be so kind as to answer my question?

Cliff is at 97/A/A right now with a maxed out 2SFB, 4 DCB, 4 CCHG, and a 4 CUT. He's pitched to a 2.44 ERA, with an 11-5 record, 3 shutouts, 10 CG, and 154 Ks through 154.2 IP. He's working on his CCHG in practice.

Trout is 3/C/B/B/C/C/C, and in 50 games he's hit .283 (26-92) with 6 doubles, 3 HR, 11 RBIs, 9 XBHs, and 5 SB. He's starting now so chances are he'll see a lot more playing time than he did in LA. At the moment he's working on getting his contact up.

I don't think he was because they have Vernon Wells/Carl Crawford/Bourjos/Trumbo in the outfield mix and if he did start he would've had a lot more games played.

Switch Lee to DCB and Trout to fielding.
