Update likely coming tomorrow with the Players of the Month for July, one more bonus trade slipped in at the deadline, our points balance after July, and later on, the sim of the last two Sox games, followed by the series preview and game against the Royals!

Lots of stuff so stay tuned, those who are following.

NEW JERSEY EAGLES
JULY SUMMARY: TRADE DEADLINE PASSES, MONTHLY MVPs, POINTS BALANCE

Image

It's been a solid July as the Eagles remain the best team in the MLB. It's been a hot one too, to no one's surprise. Let's review some stuff that went on.

AL Monthly MVPs
AL Player of the Month - Pujols LAA .449, 8 HR, 24 RBI
AL Pitcher of the Month - Pettitte LAA 4 W, 1.35 ERA, 9 K
AL Rookie of the Month - Herrerra LV .350, 1 HR, 11 RBI
AL Relief Pitcher of the Month - Hanrahan LAA 4 SV 1.00 ERA, 6 K

The Angels went 18-6 in July because of their players stuffing the July stat sheet.
---------------------------------------------------------------
NL Monthly MVPs
NL Player of the Month - Jimmy Rollins PHI .374, 3 HR, 28 RBI
NL Pitcher of the Month - Kyle Kendrick PHI 4 W, 1.76 ERA, 22 K
NL Rookie of the Month - Walter COL 1 W, 1 SV, 1.15 ERA, 10 K

The Phillies are the NL's Angels, for July at least. They're 18-6, with their team getting the top NL awards. Walter (83/E/C) is a 20-year old lefty sidearmer who's lowered his ERA to 2.59 with this good month for Colorado.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Rays acquire P E. Hernandez from Giants for P Olson, IF E. Johnson

The Giants and Rays made a swap at the last second before the trade deadline. Tampa Bay adds to its pitching with SP Eric Hernandez, a former Eagle (93/C/A, 68 IP, 5.03 ERA, 5-4, 2 CG, 63 K, .248 BAA) while San Fran collects fellow pitcher Garrett Olson (91/D/C, 57.2 IP, 4.53 ERA, 4-2, 0/2 SV, .270 BAA,) and infielder Elliot Johnson (D/D/C/D/D/D, 5 G, .375, 2 RBI). From the Giants standpoint, it doesn't seem like too great a trade considering Olson is only a decent reliever and Johnson is really only a pinch hitter for them. I see it as a steal for the Rays - they got a solid starter for just a reliever and a backup.
------------------------------------------
Eagles Point Balance
+14,700 PP (10,600PP from game, 100PP from awards, 4,000PP from trades)
- 10,691 PP (from salaries)
--------------
+4009 PP (total income and expenses)

That's all for July, here's to hoping for a better August!

If agents or followers want to know more, let me know.

Simmed the next two White Sox games.

August 1, 2016
(72-34) Eagles vs White Sox (59-47): Game 2

Felix threw a gem and the offense did enough to back him up. The only damage dealt to King Felix was big slugger Adam Dunn's solo homer. Plenty of our guys contributed in a nice, 4-run effort.

Player of the Game: Felix Hernandez - threw a CG for the win

Final Score:
White Sox: 1
Eagles: 4

W - F.Hernandez (15-3) | L - Liriano (6-9)
HR: A. Dunn (28)

Image
B. Phillips: 1-4, RBI
C. Davis: 2-4, 2 2B, 2 R, 1 SO
Pence: 2-4, RBI
Longoria: 2-4, 2B, RBI, R
Zieno: 2-4, RBI
F. Hernandez: 9 IP, 6 H, 3 K, 1 ER, 1 HR

Image
A. Dunn: 1-4, HR, SO
Youkilis: 0-4
Liriano: 5 2/3 IP, 10 H, 4 ER, 1 BB
Conti: 2 1/3 IP, 3 H, 1 K, 0 ER

---------------------------------------------------------------
August 2, 2016
(73-34) Eagles vs White Sox (59-48): Game 3

The offense was on all day in the final game of this series. Cliff Lee let up 2 runs in the fifth after we got first blood in the 2nd. We went on to score 7 runs total in our half of the fifth as well as the following two innings. That sealed the sweep and Cliff's 11th win on the season, the second of two straight dominant efforts from our starters.

Player of the Game: Brandon Phillips - knocked in 2 runs, scored once, went 3/5 on the day

Final Score:
White Sox: 2
Eagles: 8

W - C. Lee (11-5) | L - B. Myers (6-6)

Image

C. Davis: 2-5, 2B, 2 RBI, SO
B. Phillips: 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI, R
Cervelli: 3-4, RBI, 2 R
C. Lee: 9 IP, 10 H, 6 K, 2 ER, 1 BB

Image
A. Ramirez: 2-4, 2 RBI
Youkilis: 2-3, SO, BB
Morel: 2-4, R, SO
B.Myers: 4 1/3 IP, 8 H, 0 K, 4 ER
Conti: 2 1/3 IP, 1 H
Pauley: 1 1/3 IP, 1 H

-----------------------------------------
Agents, if you wanna see your player's stats this game or any game when they aren't listed, or what they're doing in practice, let me know.

The Series in Preview and then Royals game will most likely come tomorrow. Expect a lot more updates then.

A huge announcement today after Cliff Lee's win yesterday:

"Cliff Lee is now tied for first among active players for most complete games ever in a season!"

Image

Pretty impressive, and Cliff's always been known to have a knack for being a dominant force that can change a pitching staff with his consistency to give you a good start and go deep into each game. I'm glad I was able to get him under contract and I don't believe for one second his rough start with us last season is a true show of his talent. This season has confirmed that he's still an ace at his age.

He's tied with fellow (well, former) Phillie Roy Halladay, who threw 10 CGs in 2012, as well as current Eagle Felix Hernandez, who tossed that same amount for Seattle last year. I'm sure I'm not the only one heavily anticipating his next start to see him break the record.

(71-34) Eagles vs Royals (55-53): Series Preview (8/3-8/5)

Image VS. Image

We begin play in August with a three-game series against a certainly changed Royals team. They're a lot different from when we started back in 2012.

KC ranks mostly in the middle of the division for offensive categories. They bat .274 as a team with 1028 hits, 525 runs, 104 HRs, and 86 stolen bases. In addition, their pitching has compiled the 3rd best team ERA in their division (4.80), albeit a poor one. Kansas City's mediocre hurlers allow an awful lot of runs (565, worst) and homers as well (97, worst). We top them across the board, as expected.

We'll have to watch out for vet Michael Cuddyer (C/C/C/B/C/C), who's had a fantastic season in his new uniform - .355 with 14 bombs, and 59 ribbies in 108 games. Fellow veteran outfielder Josh Willingham (D/B/E/E/D/D) has also enjoyed his stint thus far with KC. His stat line reads: .313, 10 HR, 55 RBI. But the Royals also have young players representing - 1B Eric Hosmer (C/A/F/F/C/C) has hit .282 with 23 homers and 78 runs driven in, while 3B Mike Moustakas (C/B/B?/C/D/C) boasts a stat sheet of 18 bombs and 72 RBIs, even though he's batted .249. We also better hope we don't see Felipe Paulino (97/D/B) in this series; he's had a relatively good season at 10-2 with a 4.23 ERA.

The Royals have been hot in their last 10 games winning 8 and losing 2. They've managed an even 25-25 on the road while they've won 30 of 58 at home. They are even against Eastern teams (both NL/AL) at 17 wins, 17 losses. With 54 games to go, KC has beaten AL opponents 47 times but have came out on the losing end 43 times.

Kansas City is 8 games out so a sweep would put them somewhat back into the AL Central race. We're not prepared to lay down for them, though.

We'll send soft-tosser Andrew Brooks out to the mound for the first game, and he'll be opposed by former Brave Brandon Beachy. Game 2 will see lefty Clayton Kershaw vs Felipe Paulino, followed by a Sean Haynes spot-start vs Josh Johnson.

Thanks a lot, Zero.

Royals game was just finished up and the summary will be coming shortly.

Hoping to possibly have the next two simmed games summary up tonight also, we'll see.

And that's fine. This is only a test to see if I can keep a log going by doing a little bit every day or so. I'm fine with it not being the best, just follow if you feel like it.

We'll see what happens.
