AgentP & AnthonyP (should I call you "P-squared"?), when the season ends and we're in contract negotiations, do I just let you know what we agreed on?

In general, I have trouble getting agreements to long-term deals. I usually just do 1year deals until the year before free agency and then I push hard for a multi year contract.

Thoughts?

Sorry to come off as mean or anything. Sorry I didn't say that sooner.

That's ok. You didn't come off as mean. All good.

My clients are a 4th outfielder and a minor leaguer. Just don't give them anything above 500/year.

I think you also represent my closer. I'll check on their contract and get back to you.

I'd like multiple years on my contracts with the salary they want multiplied by the number of years. I'd prefer 3 years, but if they decline on the first try, just go for 1 year deals for the amount they want.

World Series Game Two: Iowa City Country at Milwaukee Brewers

Country Depablos (93 DC SL – four, CB – four) versus Brewers Capuano (90 DB SL – two, CH – two)

Comments: the Brewers pitching staff does not seem any "worse for wear" since last night's 17 inning marathon. The current starting pitcher is reporting in blue condition, and is the only starting pitcher other than Ben sheets (also in blue condition), that is not in grey condition, but the entire relief corps is reporting in yellow or better condition, with Gagne reporting in pink.

Inning one: The Country do not seem interested in forcing Capuano to throw a lot of pitches, as Milledge, Spilborghs, and Johnson are each retired on the first or second pitch. The Brewers threaten in the bottom of the inning, as Hardy doubles to left-center with one out, but a strikeout of Braun and a ground out to shortstop by Fielder who is jammed on an inside fastball ends the threat.

Inning two: Cust gets the fans on the edge of their seats when he launches and inside changeup to the deepest part of centerfield, missing a home run by a few feet for out number one. They do break through later in the inning on consecutive two out singles by Harris, Huisman, and Thurston, but the Brewers Mike Cameron ties the game when he swings at a two – two slider, sliding inside and lofts it over the left field fence for a leadoff homerun. End of one, game tied at one

Inning three: Milledge hits the first pitch of the inning hard to center field, and when Mike Cameron takes a roundabout approach the ball, Milledge turns on the burners and stretches his single into a leadoff double. Milledge reached third-base with one out on a wild pitch to Dan Johnson, but neither Spilborghs, Johnson, nor Cust are able to bring him home.

The Brewers don't waste their opportunity in the bottom of the third, when Rickie Weeks doubles to center field and comes home on a Hardy single. The Brewers continue to threaten, putting runners on first and second with one out and the bases loaded with two out, but fail to score again. End of three, Brewers lead two – one

Inning four: Josh Fields leads off with a double to left center field and scores the tying run on a Huisman single to right field. When the Brewers are retired, the game enters the fifth inning tied at two

Inning five: Milledge leads off with a single, but is thrown out stealing second. Spilborghs then singles and, after Johnson pops out to the infield, Cust puts an outside fastball just over the left-field fence. Fields then launches a two – one waist-high fastball into left field bleachers. Harris then follows suit with a 1 – 0 inside changeup.

The Brewers threatened in the bottom of the inning, putting runners at first and second with no out and then a runner at third with two out, who scored when the Country manager left Depablos into long and he surrenders single to Corey Hart. Depablos was relieved by back end starter, Bourgeois, who ended the inning with the Country leading six – three

Inning six: in the bottom of the sixth, the Brewers scored on three consecutive singles from the eight, nine, and one hitters. End of six, Country lead six – four

Inning seven: Prince Fielder hits a 0-1 cut fastball tailing inside over the right center field fence. End of seven, Country lead six – five

The game enters the bottom of the ninth inning with the Country continuing to protect a six – five lead. Chamberlain takes the mound and retires Hardy on a ground out to short before Braun singles up the middle and is replaced by a pinch runner. Chamberlain strikes out Fielder, but allows the tying run to reach scoring position when Mike Cameron singles to leftfield. Chamberlain closes out the game by striking out the next batter on an 0-2 inside changeup.

Comments: Cust, Fields, and Harris had solid games, going a combined 5/12 with one double, three homeruns, four RBIs, and five runs scored

The series now heads back to Iowa City with the Country needing two more wins to close out the World Series.

Thanks. They kept chipping away 1 run at a time and I was doing nothing on offense. Quite nervous!

World Series Game Three: Iowa City Country (two) versus Milwaukee Brewers (zero)

Country Grindell (93 EC CU – four, CB – two, PA – three) versus Brewers Sheets (96 CA HSL – two, DCB – five, CH – three)

Inning three: both pitchers were pitching strong, but the Brewers ended up with runners on first and second, starting with a leadoff infield single and then with two out, Hardy doubled over Lastings Milledge's head, scoring both baserunners. Grindell closed out the top of the third with a strike out, giving him five strikeouts in the first three innings.

For the second time in the game, the Country threatened, putting a runner at second with less than two out, but failed to bring him home. In the first inning, it was Spilborghs. In the bottom of the third, it was Milledge, both of home singled and then stole second. End of three, Brewers lead two – zero

Inning four: Fielder led off the inning with an opposite field home run, and when Grindell, visibly tiring, get up gave up a double to Mike Cameron, he was pulled and replaced by Deardorff (88 DC SL – three, CB – one, FO – four). Deardorff recorded two outs quickly, but then a Bill Hall bloop single brought home Cameron. When the Country threatened, but again failed to bring home a runner from second, it sent the game into the fifth inning with the Brewers enjoying a four – zero lead

Inning five: the Country finally broke the ice when Milledge singled with one out, stole second, and came home on a two-out single from Erdos.

Inning six-seven: Fielder, again, led off the inning with a homerun, this one to right field. Cameron followed with a home run to left off a fastball that forced Cameron to reach way outside the plate and then Hart followed with his own home run off a fastball tailing away, again off the plate.

The Country started the bottom half of the sixth with singles from Fields and Harris, and then a fielders choice put runners at first and third one out, but groundouts ended the threat. End of six, Brewers lead seven – one

With two outs, Ben sheets gave up a pair of singles in the seventh and was removed in favor of Brian Shouse, who gave up run scoring singles to Josh Fields and Brendan Harris. End of seven, Brewers lead seven – three

Inning nine: the game remained seven – three entering the bottom of the 9th, when Brewers closer Gagne (94 BE DCB – five, CH – five) entered the game to face the Country's number three-hitter, Erdos. Erdos put a first pitch fastball low in the zone over the second baseman's head for a soft single, but the Country's big hitters (Johnson, Cust, and Fields) could not get the ball out of the infield, ending the game with a loss to the Brewers, seven – three.[/color]

Comments: while this loss can be attributed to many factors, Spilborghs and Johnson were hitless in multiple at-bats with runners in scoring position. Spilborghs' batting line looks solid, going 3/5 with a run scored and a stolen base, but he had multiple opportunities to bring home Milledge, who stole second after both of his signal singles, but failed to do so. Johnson came up with runners in scoring position at least three times and had a runner on base for all five of his at-bats, but only managed one single.

Notable: rumor has it that Country leftfielder, Erdos, is in the running for rookie of the year. His 351 batting average leads all rookies and puts him ninth in all of major-league baseball this season. He also leads all AL rookies with 202 hits and 81 runs scored, and is 4th with American League rookies (behind 3 Honeybees) with 63 RBIs.

WORLD SERIES. GAME 4: Iowa City Country (2) v Milwaukie Brewers (1)

The Country scored right away in the bottom of the first when Milledge singled, stole second, went to third on a one-out single by Erdos, and then scored a sacrifice fly by Johnson, but the Brewers had a big second inning, with Kapler and Hall singling before being doubled home and then Randy Weeks hit a homerun to put the Brewers ahead, four – one.

The Country did add a run in the bottom of the second, but the Brewers matched it in the top of the third. The Country tied the game after scoring two in the fourth and one in the fifth, but the Brewers pulled ahead in the seventh on a leadoff homerun by Braun. The Country were unable to mount any offense in the 8th and 9th innings, losing this game six – five.

This series is now tied at two apiece.

Comments: This was a matter of the Brewers simply outpitching the Country. Milledge failed to come through against a drawn-in infield with bases-loaded (though Spilborghs came through with a single that brought 2 runs home), but aside from his clutch hitting (or lack thereof), he had another solid day with two hits and two stolen bases.
