OK, help me out here. In regards to the Saints bounty scandal, me and my mom are having a conflict. She's saying that no matter what happens, the players involved with the scandal should get arrested and thrown in jail for "assault with intent to do great bodily harm." I say that the cops shouldn't get involved, because this is the NFL's problem, and not something that the police should be worried about. What do you guys say about this?

No. You are right dish. NFL's problem. IF they were found guilty then they should be suspended, not thrown in jail. But they weren't.

Remember the Cincy/Xavier brawl last year? The police got involved with that or at least tried. It didn't work out so well.

Racketeering usually has to do with organized crime when someone pays a "racketeer" for protection.
