The table is complete for the TV thief (the one where Sittch tells you where he went), but I still lack East and South for the purse thief.

Sittch Thief

North -> West
East -> South
South -> East
West -> North

Marvin Thief

North -> South
East -> ?
South -> ?
West -> East

I have a question: Is there a way to get these thief events to happen faster so you can get the rewards earlier (namely the Gambler's Ring) or is it all completely random after you do an action?

While I can find the thief, I can never succeed in catching him. Is it related to a stat, or random?

I had my first run in with the thief and thanks to this thread I was successful in finding him first off. Sittch went North, and I went West. I was lucky and I pegged the thief with the ball on the first try.

I caught him 4 weeks after his nasty deed was anounced on T.V.

I got the following as a result of capturing him:

Cannon Arm
Strength 11
Technique 11
Quickness 22

I tried reloading at least 10 times when I found him my first try. Every freaking time my guy missed him, you'd think he learn after all those throws. Than i spent a week getting his arm strength from E to F I think and when I saw the thief again I got him.

Tried to hit him with D arm. Failed. Maybe I am just unlucky...

I reloaded about 20 times and missed him every time with 4 arm strength. Upgraded arm to 5 and I hit him every time, reloaded about 5-6 times to see if I would ever miss.

And with your arm strength at 5, did you ever miss?

This probably goes in the abilities thread as well, when I accepted the thief challenge last night after Marvin came and told me about it, I got a reduction in Consistency.

Wait, how do you actually catch him after the first News random event? I also got the Marvin random event, but what do you do next? Or am I completely missing someting here?

anyone know how to get the thief in the game?

has anyone done something each time and got the thief to pop up?

I caught him once when I 'bowled' him over, instead of throwing the ball at him. It worked, and I didn't have any choice it just did it on his own. Either way, has anyone else had this happen? I had the 'Tough Runner' ability at the time, so I'm wondering if this changes how you try to get him?

I recently got him as a pitcher. I caught him the first week after the news broadcast. I got no abilities so experience points in strength, technique, and breaking ball. I earned $1575.
