Also, my thirdbaseman just retired.

Retired? How does that happen?

When a players contract can only be renewed so many times. After it has been renewed the last time, they go into retirement. When they're retired, their stats are cut in half like they would be if their injured. Once a player is retired, you either have to find a replacement or buy an item for 50 "bucks" that makes them young again. The better the card type, the more often their contract can be renewed, I think...

You know how when you renew someones contract it tells you how many extensions left. At the start of the last extension he informs the team he will retire at the end of his contract, thats what happened to me. You can buy a Fountain O Youth energy drink for 50 big bucks to revive his career. It will give you 6 new contract extensions.

It's because you play people on the same (or similar) level to you. So while most people your level were in the mid forties, you were in the high fifties. Your 18-2 record won't hold up much longer (insert evil laughter)

I know. The more you level up, you face harder opponents. I had a really good record at first, but now I'm only like 10 games above .500
