Nicholas got up and threw the ball to third from his knees. The throw was on target to the third baseman, but he allowed the ball to be kicked out of his glove allowing the runner to be safe at third. The current situation is now runners on 1st and 3rd with two outs.

The next batter hit a lazy liner just over the outstretched glove of Nicholas, allowing the runner on third to score easily. Javier was able p get he next batter and limit the damage, the score being 1-0 Oakland.

Nicholas: Way to get out of the inning man. That play is on me.

Javier: It's all right man. You made a good play. We just got a little unlucky.

In the bottom of the inning, Nicholas was up second. The lead off batter got on base after getting walked on 4 pitches. Nicholas stepped up to the plate looking to get that runner in scoring position by any means. The first pitch went by for a ball. He looked to his coach and nothing was on. He stepped back in, looking to take. The 1-0 pitch was a fastball middle high. This was Nicholas's pitch. This was the one he slapped for a double earlier. But he wanted to be patient after the pitcher just threw 5 straight balls.

When he was about to reach second he saw his coach waving him to third. In the corner of his eye, Nicholas could see the center fielder releasing the ball. He wanted to go because the next two hitters were struggling and an out could get him home.
