July Recap
An July recap from the desk of GM Roger Anybody

Well, we went 17-8 in July, bringing our record up to 60-46. Overall a solid performance, but ending the month on four straight losses after winning 17 out of 21 is just not what I expect from these guys. The Ottawa Canadians are just 2 games back, and the Charge are hanging in there at 56-50, so we need to step it up to gain a more comfortable lead heading into September. I told the team I expect 20 wins, a lofty goal that I think these guys can reach if they play within themselves and avoid making costly mistakes. Now let's take a look at the team stat leaders:

Pitching
Innings Pitched: Jake Peavy (119.2)
E.R.A.: Cole Hamels (3.40)(Andrew Miller has a 2.99 ERA, but falls 15.2 innings short of the minimum for qualification.)
Wins: Jake Peavy, Cole Hamels, Felix Hernandez, and Jair Jurrjens (9)
Saves: Hideki Okajima (31)
Strikeouts: Cole Hamels (105)

Batting/Baserunning
Batting Average: Carlos Lee (.315)
Hits: Carlos Lee (121)
Doubles: Kevin Kouzmanoff (22)
Triples: Kosuke Fukudome (5)
Home Runs: Carlos Lee (26)
RBI's: James West (71)
Runs: Bill Hall (61)
Walks: Prince Fielder and Kosuke Fukudome (36)
Stolen Bases: Bill Hall (22)

Now let's look at the AL East standings:
1. New England Sting 60-46 - 0 GB
2. Ottawa Canadians 58-48 - 2 GB
3. Rochester Charge 56-50 - 4 GB
4. Buffalo Warriors 49-57 - 11 GB
5. Orlando Chipmunks 47-59 - 13 GB
6. Charlotte Yetis 46-60 - 14 GB

With three teams all in the hunt, we're going to have to stay hot in order to win the division title. The AL West leaders, the Tacoma Whalers have the best NABA record, at 66-40, which means the Las Vegas Vipers, at 58-48, are currently tied with the Canadians for the Wild Card lead. It's certainly proving to be tough to make the playoffs in this league.

Until next month, I'm Roger Anybody.

"In the end, a lot of things cost of this game, but not a single extra base hit until Prince Fielder's 9th innings home run was the biggest. I don't know what happened to 'em out there today, but they sure weren't hittin' for power like they usually do. I thought we had 'em in the 9th with West and Jhonny on 1st and 2nd, but Harris just popped it straight up to end it. In the end, disappointing game, but I liked that they refused to give up and battled to the end. We'll get 'em tomorrow."

"The offense," Anybody said after the game, "really struggled. I've gotta hand it to Jurrjens, he really deserved a win, and Lee had a good game, but 4 hits doesn't get it done in any game. It's as simple as that. Tough way to close out a series, but hey, we're ready to head over to Charlotte and take on the Yetis."

I hate those games. Both logs are struggling with offense, eh?

It seems so. You'll find out if that continues in about 30 minutes ;)

The Month of August
An May recap from the desk of GM Roger Anybody

It was a rough month. 11-17 just isn't going to cut it. Falling into third place only makes it worse. We've got some ground to make up now, and we're just going to have to be up to the challenge. As you probably know, September Call-Ups are here, and I expect those AAA guys to come there and make an impression. We're going to need all the help we can get.

Pitching
Innings Pitched: Jair Jurrjens (150.1)
E.R.A.: Cole Hamels (3.16)
Wins: Cole Hamels (12)
Saves: Hideki Okajima (34)
Strikeouts: Felix Hernandez (140)

Batting/Baserunning
Batting Average: Carlos Lee (.305)
Hits: Bill Hall and Carlos Lee (146)
Doubles: Bill Hall and Kevin Kouzmanoff (24)
Triples: Kosuke Fukudome (6)
Home Runs: Carlos Lee (27)
RBI's: James West (84)
Runs: Bill Hall (72)
Walks: Prince Fielder (51)
Stolen Bases: Bill Hall (25)

Now let's look at the AL East standings:
1. Ottawa Canadians 74-60 - 0 GB
2. Rochester Charge 72-62 - 2 GB
3. New England Sting 71-63 - 3 GB
4. Buffalo Warriors 64-70 - 10 GB
5. Charlotte Yetis 60-74 - 14 GB
6. Orlando Chipmunks 59-75 - 15 GB

We slipped 3 games behind the Canadians, sure, but we've got 28 games left to make it up, 4 of them against the Canadians themselves. I have the utmost confidence in this team. We'll make the playoffs. I'm sure of it.

Until next month, I'm Roger Anybody.

"Well, we're in a must-win state right now. 6 games back with 11 games to play. Great game today, though. Prince Fielder's 465 foot home run... wow, and Lee's clutch double really sealed the deal in 8th inning. Shock Gordon also impressed me and proved his potential in his first start since the beginning of September Call-Ups. All in all, it's good that we won today, but we need to pretty much win out. It's gonna be tough."

"I'm speechless at the way Felix Hernandez pitched today. 22 strikeouts. That IS the record. Felix Hernandez has set the all-time pro baseball record for most strikeouts by a pitcher in a single game. Hats off to him. Anyways, we're still in the AL East race, but just barely, with two games to play. The magic number's one for the Charge, and we're officially not in control of our own destiny. I hate to say it, but we're counting on the Canadians to take care of business in Rochester."

Sting Lose, Get Eliminated
September 29th
New England Sting - 1
Orlando Chipmunks - 2

In an incredible 14 inning game, the Sting lost on a walk-off home run by rookie Kevin Szuminski.

It was a valiant effort by the Sting, who managed 15 hits and allowed just 10, not bad considering the length of the game. Unfortunately, the Chipmunks' rookie infielder Kevin Szuminski ended the game on a home run that just cleared the right-field wall with two outs in the bottom of the 14th. "We just couldn't get the big hit when we needed it," said secondbaseman Brendan Harris, "and I admit I was one of the main offenders. It's really too bad, we had a great shot at the pennant a couple of months ago. The dugout's in a pretty somber state right now."

"I'm disappointed," admitted Roger Anybody in a short press conference that was held after the loss. "Hats off to the Charge, they played some incredible baseball in August and September, while we just fell apart. We're the only ones we can blame for this. Nothing else to say."

Although the loss was devastating, the game was perhaps moot as the Rochester Charge would have clinched anyway with their own 2-1 win against the Ottawa Canadians.

The Sting will finish off the regular season with the second of a two-game series against the Orlando Chipmunks, and then sit back and relax as the inaugural NABA playoffs occur.

Aw, that's too bad. There's maybe next season, depending on if you continue this.

Bad news.

Unfortunately, it looks like my Wii is going to have to be replaced, so this log is, in all likelihood, done. At least I got through a full season.

Although, it seems like a lot of us on this forum that play Power Pros have had console problems... think there might be a connection?

Yeah. Good thing mine broke before I started my log. This log was good. Sad to see it go.
