Golf is a hobby that you can do in your free time if you own a pair of golf clubs. It boosts your contact and power.

The types of clubs you can have listed from best to worst:

  • Pro Spec
  • Pro
  • Titanium
  • Alloy
  • Steel

When choosing "golf" under the practice menu there are four possible outcomes:

  • "I kept missing the ball and hitting really bad shots" - No stat boost, only seen at low skill levels.
  • "I practiced by hitting around 200 balls" - No stat boost or effects.
  • "With a steady swing, I enjoyed my practice" - Control boost for pitchers, fairly large power/contact boost for fielders.
  • "I bent my club" - No stat boost, currently equipped clubs disappear from inventory. Happens after a certain number of uses, probably around 50.

The chance of getting the stat boost increases with skill level and type of clubs owned. At the beginning it is rare to get anything other than the first two results, while with the pro spec clubs at the highest skill level, you will get the "stat boost" result about 90% of the time. You also get the same chance of a stat boost when playing golf with others through the "chat" free time option. When playing with teammates a successful roll corresponds to a score under 70, while nothing is shown when playing golf with girls or agents. Golf is probably the most useful hobby for fielders as it is one of if not the most effective ways to build your hitting power and is relatively inexpensive. It also is a good way to build your relationship with Darryl, the best agent, in order to get a better contract.
